    resawing parquet tiles

sorry, boring quick question, got about 14 sq metres of parquet to put down for a project where i need to lose as much weight as possible... the tiles are currently 15mm, if i could get away with resawing off the back 5mm it will obviously reduce the total weight by a third and probably take...

    Tiny home on wheels

Tend to agree with you TN, and i intend this to be my full time home at some point so I dont know about a bed that takes too much effort to make use of. Finally started this week with refurbing the windows while i wait to finalise shell design, with a hope to get the shell done before i go away...

    Tiny home on wheels

Hahaaa well thats a very enthusiastic and content heavy post for which I am very grateful, many good ideas! On frame and weight. I see what you're saying about building down the weight, of course. I haven't ever used metal stud frame so thats one reason i haven't been considering it I suppose...

    Tiny home on wheels

Just reviving this to say that I am about to begin. Life has happened as it does so its taken longer than i'd have liked to get going but im looking forward to making a start, with phase one being the outer shell and interior cladding. I am going more or less with the original design for the...

    Slab Table Legs

Thanks Custard, as I would have thought. I mainly ask because in the reference photos they sent, the tables seemed to be constructed that way, so it made me wonder exactly how ill advised that might be...

    Slab Table Legs

Im just putting together a waney edge oak slab table for some clients. The legs are designed to be simple and linear to contrast the table, wide uprights with a rail at the top and another few inches up from the floor. I am wondering whether I can get away with making it so simple that the two...

    Meddings pillar drill issues...

Last week my floor standing meddings M2 rather suddenly (after cutting quite a few 100mm holes to be fair) developed a lot of play in the spindle, about a 1/5th of a turn. In a bid to find the problem i have wrestled all the parts from the front belt wheel downwards out and apart, and found a...

    Favorite YouTube woodworker

Dont know if hes been mentioned, had a scroll through the last few pages but just ended up engrossed in totally irrelevant nonsense (noticeably more of that recently, bit of a shame, thats what the mail online is for surely... thought this was a sanctuary) so ill mention him: Theres an aussie...

    Notre Dame

Biggish should do it! Apparently the mass of medieval beams were referred to as 'la foret', though i also heard that its been built and rebuilt and extended a few times over the last 850 years... there was also talk of this being an opportunity to do something new with it rather than just try...

    Joinery pencil

+1 a friend of mine was given one of the round ones by her mum, who is an art teacher, i couldnt help myself after seeing it... its great and a very satisfying weight and size. seems insane to spend five pounds on a pencil sharpener, but if its something that gets that much use its well worth...

branded vs diy router plane vs old womans tooth

that looks great too, now theres no excuse! i dug out my lump of metal, its was a mechanical part of something. youll see what i mean that it lends itself to the router plane form. ive got some spare time tomorrow, so ill see what i can transform it into. Needs a v-groove for the cutter, im...
