    The Whitest Wood

Wow what a bounty of information thanks all, sorry I’ve been too busy eating cheese to check for replies! Good to know there was some basis for my beliefs about holly, so my piece just wasn’t prepped right. Funny that being stored upright might be a thing! I have some field maple that came...

    The Whitest Wood

I have a piece in which id like to contrast some charred black with a very white white, ideally as plain as possible, turned into simple cylinders with rounded top ends, bottom ends set into the black stuff... its a sculptural thing. anyway, i was under the impression holly was very white but...

Shavings and what to do with them.

ive put sacks of planer shavings (maybe slightly different consistency but same same really) on freecycle and facebook marketplace before for free and people have taken them for mulch, compost, compost toilets, chickens and maybe other animal bedding... if you just want rid, might be worth it...

    Dead switch, or motor...

Cheers bob - will play with the connections, though if a motor is wired backwards does it not just run backwards? excuse my laymans understanding... ... which may also mean my rudimentary testing of the capacitor wasnt conclusive. However, no hum from the motor or capacitor, all completely...

    Dead switch, or motor...

Ive been given a ferm belt/disc sander, fairly hefty and well made thing so that was nice. however, its not working. The switch buzzes in the off position, but clicks on ok and tests with a voltage pen and multimeter indicate current getting through to the motor, the capacitor seeeems ok...

    any aluminium experts out there?

ok great thanks, i dont plan to live by the sea and i defintely dont plan on towing it if the roads are at risk of being salty and icy, sounds like if 1050 is good enough for industrial applications itll be fine, and they look exactly the same, so ill spend the money on a bandsaw!
