    Pillar drill - Convert 415v to 240v

Ive wired straight into the motor now, and it seems to run fine... Have now noticed a couple of things though. The pulley wheels have a bit of a wobble on them, makes the whole thing vibrate a bit... and there is about 1/8th of a turn of play in the spindle shaft where it engages with the...

Yew Swine - how to unbend a bookcover...?

Thanks! I have relayed the info. As we suspected, short of unbinding the book and starting again, not much to be done.

Yew Swine - how to unbend a bookcover...?

My girlfriends Pa is a musician, photographer and and poet, and he recently collected a bunch of his works into an anthology and bound a lovely one off book containing them all. He did his research and came up with a pretty good plan, having found a luthier selling a 5mm thick cut of yew large...

    Cherry bowl and spoon/scoop-Finished!

really nice! thats the best thing about spoons, you can spot a bit of something interesting on a walk or whatever, and have it into a spoon by the end of the day I found a beech tree in some woods while driving through france last summer, and it had a withered but still thick dead branch within...

    Pillar drill - Convert 415v to 240v

More wisdom, thanks all. Between the VFD and new motor, sounds like VFD might be the one for me. Is there more I should know about how much you can use the VFD to safely control speed? At what points should you be using the pulleys?

    Pillar drill - Convert 415v to 240v

ok so i have found all the bits. choices being: capacitor and some wiring - a fiver - reduced motor efficiency http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Universal-25- ... Swqv9V7VOJ VFD - £80-150 - infinite speed control, no loss of efficiency? New motor - £60+ - same as current efficiency, shame to retire a...

    Pillar drill - Convert 415v to 240v

Thanks all! Its an M2, floor standing, think i might have got lucky as it didnt say meddings in the lot title or description... Nice old school design, will need a once over but from what Ive read Meddings come fairly highly regarded? Have to say I dont know a huge amount when it comes to older...

    Pillar drill - Convert 415v to 240v

How do. Ive just bought a meddings pillar drill on ebay, which is 415v, and I need it to be 240v. I knew it was 415, but went for it anyway because it was a good price and on the strength of this post on another forum it shouldnt be hard to convert. The thread is here...

    Accoya wood

I've just used some accoya for a window, but I pinned (and glued) some of the internal beeding on with steel pins, mainly to hold while the glue cured. But I now realise my pins were steel rather than stainless, and I'm wondering if anyone knows the consequences of their corrosion. I drove the...

    Arch top window

Amazing, great advice all! I was thinking loose tennons, but maybe ill have a go at the hammerhead at the bottoms of the arch depending on how im doing for time! I have a bandsaw but no SM, just a fairly hefty router, I guess Ill do what I can with that and tidy up the rest somehow else...

    Thos. Ibbotson Bull Nose Plane

Hi all, new to the forum, and just thought id post a few pictures of the bull nose plane I bagged at the local car boot for a few quid. I googled the maker, and it brought me back here, reputable company by the sounds of it though no mention of a bull nose. Its the first ive owned and I was...

    Table saw refurb- kity 618

Hi again, if you could confirm what size blade and clearance you have thatd be grand because I just cant see how it would be differently assembled to get below zero on anything bigger than 200. Looking at it now it is almost under with a 200 though, i think i must have been remembering with the...

    Table saw refurb- kity 618

As I suspected on the height. I guess I'll be opening her up again... it's not too mechanically complicated in there, I'm sure if I try and follow the logic of it I'll see what's up with the height limit on mine. As for the handle and crank, the cog is firmly on the rod and the handle firmly...

    Table saw refurb- kity 618

Hi all, first post, i have been drawn here by this thread, which is right on topic for me having just bought this saw, but hoping to get stuck into the rest of the forum now... So, I just got this saw and it had the jammy rise/fall issue, which I fixed by taking it all apart and cleaning out...
