    Anyone re-enamelled a re-enamelled bath?

Yes I had two baths done on a job I was running a couple of years ago. One bath had been recoated before, the other not. The company (can’t remember the name) charged more for the one that had been recoated before. It took much longer to do, much more prep. Both were a great success and last...

    Blocking mice?

Yes stainless steel wire wool. They don’t like chewing that, with or without foam. Obviously be careful if electrics pass through any of the holes, but then foam is also not a good idea as some types react with the insulation. I use the wire wool trick in all under ground ducts after a major...

    Got a squeaking problem

I can’t identify. But have you tried the ‘ putting a big scwedriver handle to the ear trick’? I have a stethoscope with a metal end, but you can use a big screwdriver , ear to handle, move it arround, pressing against the saw, the sound will be more pronounced in some areas......amazing how...

Stanley 220 Block Plane cam needed

Could it be brazed? Looks possible, obviously would damage the plating. This would be my first line of attack, if you can’t do it yourself, perhaps contact the local model engineering guys.

Put a small fridge in the workshop......just don’t turn it on! Use as an insulated cupboard . Lots of old broken fridges around I guess as they are tricky to dispose of.

    Workshop Electrical Feed Issues

I think you have to accept, however much you wish otherwise, that this is ‘part P’ work. There are areas that you have not specified / may not be aware of. What is the csa of the swa? How long is the swa? Have you calculated voltage drop? Your connection plan sounds doubtful for compliance, but...

Is your Google-fu stronger than mine?

If all else fails, how about using your steel rod and using the clamp. mechanism from something like this, Axminster Trade Clamps Forged Flat Bar Clamp 200 x 80mm there are much cheaper ones around to experiment on, that one was just an ‘easy find’. You just need to find one where the metal at...

    Small Plane, Interesting day

Interesting Roberto, I too have one very like that, mine is obviously very cheaply made from light alloy castings and an iron sole. Over the years I have fiddled with it at various times and have never managed to get it to cut well. It really doesn’t deserve it’s place on the shelf. Perhaps...

Making a brass infill plane (Hattori Hanzo, DP)

All spectacular and very inspiring, can I ask (I can’t see that you have said), how you worked out / obtained the dimensions for your planes ? An insight into your planning, set out and drafting skills would be very enlightening.
