    pre mixed lime mortar ?

On the subject of cement…. I understand a small inclusion of Prompt cement https://masonsmortar.co.uk/shop/natural-cement/prompt-natural-cement/# Gives an authentic colour and a ‘false’ set to assist at this time of the year. I think you need citric acid to adjust the setting time of the...

    Lathe Related?

I think item 1 was used to allow boring things like standard lamps for the flex. A Coronet Major had a solid tail stock. Item 2 may be a fitment to go in a chuck. Tricky to explain but I think the work piece was then drilled to accept the shaft with the ‘key way’, a circular roller was laid...

This is the correct lead detail. Without the lead tray you will struggle, especially with some brick types. Coating bricks can trap moisture. Mortar……Portland or lime ?

    Cleaning up a Coronet Major

With regard to removing items from the headstock. The Coronet lathes had an ‘ejector ring’ and spanner. The ring can be seen in these pictures. The spanner engaged with the hole. By use of the spanner and holding the drive belt, items could be removed. It helped to have a leather washer behind...

    F22s again...

You HAVE got to solve the mains pressure issue. Get a pressure reducer fitted. As you have experienced, partially closing the valve will give you dreadful flow. What is not so obvious is the when you are not running water the system pressure will still rise to the supply max. This can ruin your...

    F22s again...

All good advice. Before spending considerable money …just confirm that the following have been done: Prove boiler pressure sensor, tricky, usually means a replacement so not top of the list! Insert independent pressure gauge Pressure test boiler heat exchanger Test / check / weigh any expansion...

    Electra Beckum HC260 Help

It’s some years since I owned one of these. If my memory serves me correctly the motor is on the other side with the principal drive to the cutter block? This side providing the various speed reductions for the feeds from the other end of the cutter block? If this is the case, I would check...

Do change the main stopcock but then fit a Surestop unit as mentioned earlier. Brilliant for emergency use.

    Exterior Masonry Paint

Hi Niall I have the same issue this coming summer on a property where I have no knowledge of the history of the coatings used on the ‘rough cast’ render. I was going for Sandtex, who do a Cornish Cream colour. Having used it for some patch repairs this summer, I was not really impressed, nothing...

    Problem with Bosch GTS 10

I would be tempted to put it all back together and test again before getting too technical. I suspect that you had a stuck brush and you may have cleared the issue.
