Tree Preservation Order and dead trees

Might be cheaper than legal costs and a possible fine if the the council decide to instigate proceedings. At least you will have an expert's report and may be able to claim the costs back if you win.

    Plumbing Push fit fittings help

As said a very nice job however I would be putting steel plates across the cutouts in the vertical noggins to avoid screws or nails being able to pierce the pipes! I have found most plaster boarding trades a bit too enthusiastic with the nail/screw gun!!

    Is this a quality brick?

I don't think engineering bricks are designed for their aesthetic value! :)

    Sorry. Yet another boiler thread....

I think there is a bit of confusion regarding the PRV valve. One is a Pressure Reducing Valve and the other is a Pressure Release Valve more commonly called a Safety Valve. Boilers have SVs whereas unvented hot water cylinders have PRVs.

Repairing leaking ballcock - advice please.

Also bear in mind that a new Part 1 valve to replace the existing will not have or accept the silencer tube the the original is showing as there will be no thread in the outlet to accept it.

Advice requested: fitting double-glazing into Georgian windows

Ah, but does 'restoration' not have to be an identical copy of the original?

Advice requested: fitting double-glazing into Georgian windows

A further thought is that if the house is in a conservation area you may need planning approval to change the look of the windows from six panes per sash to one big one.

    Prosecco wall

Looking at pics of them it seems like an ideal job for a bag of white 22mm Talon pipeclips screwed to a sheet of MDF! :ROFLMAO:

    Mira shower thermostat

It's always a good idea to periodically move the temperature control lever from full cold to full hot a few times. Folk tend to leave the control at their required setting but the thermostatic gubbins then gets stuck in that position and can't react to the variations in input temperature. Hot...

    Underfloor heating over existing floor

Slightly off-topic but I'm intrigued by your comment*. We are in the process of buying a house fuelled by LPG and the current supplier tops up when required as the gas levels are monitored remotely. They also own the bulk tank and carry out the required 10 year testing and 30 year replacement...
