    Old Rabone Boxwood Rules

A slight aside but I have a 2ft old folding Radbone rule which was my grandfather's during his trade as a Master Carpenter. (I'm over 70!) It could do with a bit of a clean so how would the wooden ruler experts suggest I go about this? Thanks.

    Help needed

If it's the same one as I am looking at it has bits missing i.e. the two gizmos that engage in the blade to adjust the depth of cut. I nearly hit the 'Buy it Now' button before I spotted that.

Buying a machine on eBay sight unseen with pallet delivery

The seller does appear to have history regarding poor or non-existent comms.

    Fitting a ceiling light.

Not meant as a criticism of the OP whatsoever (as I don't know his capabilities) but it never ceased to amaze me during my working life how most folk wouldn't go near plumbing works but quite happily played with electrics. If plumbing goes wrong it makes a mess whereas if leccy goes wrong it...

What are home alarms for, other than driving your neighbours up the wall?

IMO the monitored alarm services are a waste of money. They only call the police who may be too busy/far away to attend.

What are home alarms for, other than driving your neighbours up the wall?

Our alarm goes off occasionally when someone walks on our gravel drive at dead of night! :ROFLMAO:

    Boxed in garage door motor

Could you not take the stub wall up to full height just behind the rear of the door tracks and fabricate a full removable boxing to conceal the motor which could be removed from within the room area should replacement/servicing ever be needed? That would ensure that the stud wall is anchored to...

    Forming Copper over MDF

Nigel, my only question (as an ex-heating engineer) is are the pipes still 'live'? If not then could you have not chopped 'em off below floor level and filled in the holes in the skirting/floor? Other than that a nice bit of 'rustic' copper work.

    Rutlands pocket hole screws?

Mmm, I don't quite understand how a self-tapping screw prevents splitting of workpieces as I thought that was one of the purposes of a pilot hole. But there again perhaps I'm having a senior moment!
