    Veneers

Ian Hawthorne’s YouTube series on veneered box making is probably the best out there - and free. His attention to detail is second to none and he covers every aspect in an easy to follow manner. He has a box kit that you can buy on-line that he assembles stage by stage in the videos. If you want...

    Customer loyalty

I’m just about to make a couple of expensive tool purchases - £1000+ - and am fed up with handing my money over to Axminster. Can someone recommend an online retailer that actually care about their customers? Woodworkersworkshop, classichandtools and workshopheaven all spring to mind as great...

    How To Buy Hardwoods

Great to hear advice from Chris Tribe. couldn’t agree more re Duffields. On my first visit I went to the reception/cash desk and explained I was new to proper timber yards and that woodworking was a serious but new hobby now that I’m retired, I asked if there were rules I should respect and for...

Triton routers for under a table - Quick TRA query

When I think about it engaging the safety switch wasn’t really too much of a faff and did add the reassurance that the machine was definitely off before you changed bits. If I was replacing my existing router with the same, I wouldn’t bother.

Triton routers for under a table - Quick TRA query

I have a TRA001 mounted in a custom made router table with a Kreg top and mounting plate. It wasn’t quite right and the adjustment screws to get the plate level with the top are a nuisance as you have to remove the plate to fine tune. I’ve just replaced the plate with an Incra MagnaLock (same...

    Good News Re Worktop Express

Same here, they were excellent from start to finish. Two guys delivered my extremely heavy worktop, carried it into my workshop, positioned it and took away the protective packaging. Thoroughly recommend.

    Newbie Alert.

I did a speed awareness course in London about 8 years ago with the sole intention of avoiding 3 points on my license. At the very end of the session and as we stood up to leave, the guy who was running it said “now don’t forget to inform your insurance company you have been on this course”. Of...

    Axminster Deliveries

I’ve spent thousands of pounds with Axminster since retiring and pursuing my woodworking hobby, my newly built workshop is full of their equipment/machinery, they were always my first port of call. I’ve noticed the change outlined in the original post and now find myself actively looking for an...

    Flu ***

In and out of my doctors surgery in 5 minutes last Saturday. They sent me a text saying I was eligible, I called and made an appointment - great efficiency from the NHS.

Is your iMac or Macbook getting long in the tooth ?

I find it very hard to part with old Macs, I think it‘s because they are designed so well. I even have a PowerBook 100 in a cupboard somewhere.

Is your iMac or Macbook getting long in the tooth ?

I recently upgraded my 2013 iMac by replacing the hard disc with a ssd, the change in performance is astonishing. Now run Fusion 360, Sketchup, Illustrator etc with out any delay. you have to take the glass from off but there are loads of videos on YouTube and it’s easy. The replacement 500gig...

anyone own a AXMINSTER TRADE AT260SPT?

I’ve had mine for about a year. Once It’s set up it’s good, I followed the Woodgrafters video which is posted above. Well worth following his example which enabled me to get it damn near perfect, within 0.10 all the way round. Spiral blades seem to be lasting well, I haven’t had to turn them...
