electra Beckum hc 260 toast or saveable?

Thank you Both @MikeJhn and @galleywood for the very useful advice. After some trial and error I have now got the bed raising up and down in unison and have the hang of attaching it (I think) I think I need to review how tensioned the chain should be as you have mentioned @galleywood that it...

electra Beckum hc 260 toast or saveable?

Thanks Mike, That really useful to know.as you suggested I did take the pivot bolt out and fit the chain around the four gear sprockets and then the fifth gear and rebolted the plate to the pivot bolt. but I could not get the gear system to work in unison thus not making the bed raise. perhaps...

electra Beckum hc 260 toast or saveable?

Im pretty stuck on this chain business still. And can’t seem to feed it on to all four posts/gears and the tensioner. I can get it quite close but just can’t quite make it. The tensioner is just a metal plate that pivots on a bolt with a gear on the other end, I didn’t notice a spring and...

electra Beckum hc 260 toast or saveable?

thank you all very much for the in depth reponses. I will try and have another stab at this later this evening. @city17 that would be most helpful and a very kind offer although I don't expect you to remove your motor and have to faff about reattaching it . but maybe with a phone light/photo...

electra Beckum hc 260 toast or saveable?

Hi Again Folks, I've since made some progress and managed to turn the posts and bring the the bed out of its unseized state. I decided to wind the the sprockets so the posts would bring the bed all the way down so thicknesses bed is touching the metal base below it in the hope that when I...

electra Beckum hc 260 toast or saveable?

Thanks for the offers but I am based in Berlin. @RobinBHM your diagnosis was spot on. I can manage to get a little slack in the chain but can’t find a good method of turning the posts. Tried using a wrench on both the post and the corresponding gear below but I can’t get enough purchasing power...

electra Beckum hc 260 toast or saveable?

electra Beckum hc 260 toast or saveable?

Thanks city17 for the confirmation on the interchangeability of the metabo hc260 parts yes the replacement bed was around 160 euros so a expensive risky purchase . if its a no fixer I might just remove the bed and delegate it to jointer duties and buy a bench top thicknesses.

electra Beckum hc 260 toast or saveable?

Hi all, I have had my little electra Beckum hc260 for a about three years now. and have been really pleased with it's performance for a hobbits machine. I've thrown tons of hardwood at it with no problem. theist few weeks I noticed the spindle which the thicknesses bed feeling a bit stiff when...

thoughts on construction of a record cabinet

Thanks all for the feedback and solid advice. @Erictheviking that sounds like a great idea. seems he's just filling it up with lp's but something i'll defiantly make a note of. the colour by the way is from osmo's range of hardwax oils and is the 'honey' one. since the client already had...

thoughts on construction of a record cabinet

thanks For your input tiddles and mike I spent some time playing around with the width of the jig last night trying to get a decent fit on some test scrap. where it is neither too sloppy or too tight where you have to bash it in with a mallet. took more than a few go's achieve. aiming for a...

thoughts on construction of a record cabinet

thanks for that sbp, I actually bought some titebond 2 extend glue for this which apparently has a slower open time. seems a bit on the runny side but will test it out. yes I think that seems to be the most sensible approach. I will do that first initial glue up shown below and as I need to...

thanks for your input lbcarpentry although I'm not quite sure what you mean? I have already lipped each piece/panel with solid oak and routed/planed flush before sizing parts for assembly

thoughts on construction of a record cabinet

thanks for your input sub. in terms of glueing this whole thing I guess it would make sense to glue it up it up in stages otherwise I feel like if I attempt the whole thing at once the glue will setup to fast and I'm screwed. plus I think I'm one or two long clamps short. I thought I would...

thoughts on construction of a record cabinet

Hi Again all, I wanted to chime in again on my progress with the record cabinet and ask a few questions again. I ended up using 19mm oak veneered blockboard. At first I tried out some of the 1mm iron on edge banding stuff and whilst it looked really convincing I thought it felt pretty delicate...

which hand plane to add to the collection next?

So would a 5 be a logical plane to get after my block plane? If I can’t acquire a 5 and a half. To add a bit of context I own a planer jointer combo and use that often so just looking for another jags plane to compliment using power tools. Thanks I did check out the kunz plus line but Found...

which hand plane to add to the collection next?

Thanks for all the advice. By the sounds of it the number 5 seems like a very well rounded plane and if I am right I can use this as a smoother and to level surfaces? I saw that dictums quensheng plane only runs in a 5 and not a 5 and half but I assume although a little less weight and length...
