construction of a built in cabinet

Thanks for the feedback. the walls themselves seemed fairly straight. Though I think your right scribing the whole of an end panel wouldn't be much fun and since I never done any scribing could be tricky. I think what @Graham Brazier suggested in a previous post might be the way I go, make...

construction of a built in cabinet

Hi again everyone, I just wanted to run through these construction ideas and see if what people think if it is logical or can suggest an improvement. as mentioned before I want to try and keep every 20mm edge consistent and not double up edges. I would build three separate modules to form...

construction of a built in cabinet

thanks for the advice james, I was under the impression that a fairly thick back panel would be needed to screw through the back of the cabinet into the wall and would be the wall fixing itself. what other fixings could i use? and the panel would hide any uneven gaps between the back of the...

construction of a built in cabinet

thanks for the advice graham, Could you explain again the use of the spacers. im afraid i did't fully grasp it. I haven't decided wether to scribe the sides of both panels, Having never scribed before maybe its less risky to just leave that part out and have a even gap around the cabinet.

construction of a built in cabinet

Thanks Cabinet man. I got this job off the back off another smaller cabinet I made for them. I would definitely love to make it all out of solid timber but I don't think their budget allows it and i don't want to outbid myself out of the job. I have got pretty good results in the past when...

    mft style workbench

haha yes from time to time it does but mostly its pretty harmonious, we moved in to this space together after working in a much smaller cramped space so its been a major upgrade. I think its probably pretty common in a lot of major citys amongst younger self employed folk. I couldn't possibly...

    mft style workbench

Thanks a lot steve, this is actually just my dedicated work bench, it doubles up as a assembly table due to the flat surface but I'm using it for all my work. the clamping/workholding possibilities with the hole gridwork are a refreshing change and I already feel much faster and efficient. I am...

    mft style workbench

Thank you Ian, the top is bolted down through holes in the aprons. yes I added a big chunk of beach behind the frame on the side of the vice so its nice and sturdy and no flex. thats definitely one way to do it. but I bought the domino around the time of starting this project and wanted to give...

    mft style workbench

I was lucky enough to be given a load of offcuts of beach from a commericial solid wood furniture manufactur. I saved a lot of them with the idea of making my workbench frame out of them. many glue sandwiches to get the thickness of parts I needed. I decided to go for a solid wood frame and...

Domino Jointers Are they really worth it, or just a gimic

HI Derek, I am making bedsides all the time ( a product i sell on etsy) simple hardwood cabinet with miter constuction also with 19mm thick material. You can definitely use dominos on 19mm material miters. The trick is to remove the preset thickness stop so the fence drops down completely...

    right hinge for lid?

Thanks for your reply and input guys. I realise the design has some potential flaws but im just going with what they want here. The base bottom doesn't sit flush with the floor and is about a third of the way up so someone doesnt have to break their back bending down to gather books. There will...
