    Compressor for auto filter cleaning

Thanks, tomorrow I will call Felder and double check the 3/4” connector, the litres per hour required and ask how frequent it is likely to be doing the cleaning cycle. It could be that I have written down incorrectly or misheard the tech guy over the phone so is best I double check this first. I...

    Compressor for auto filter cleaning

I guess it needs high volume for short bursts periodically like maybe once every 20 minutes

    Compressor for auto filter cleaning

Hi everyone, I am looking for some advice for the following- I am having a Felder RL-160 dust extraction unit installed which has the option included for compressed air automatic cleaning. This option requires an air compressor to be connected allowing the fine dust filters to be automatically...

    Dust extraction ducting system materials

Good day everyone. I am having to seriously upgrade my dust extraction from pretty much useless to probably a hell of allot better than what I had before. I am just curious about the various metal ducting options out there and wondered what others would be suggesting I go for. Firstly it...

Flush router bit for 60mm hardwood join.

Today I used Jameshow’s idea of clamping the boards together and running them a few passes on the Wadkin planer. It was just manageable on my own and would have needed a help and more outfeed set up if they were any longer and heavier. The results were great. The boards were a little rough in...

Flush router bit for 60mm hardwood join.

Got the TS 55 track saw, want the 75 but is on a long expensive list of things to acquire over time. In the last few weeks I’ve bought a bandsaw and a domino XL so I’m having to build up capital again. To be honest, I don’t know how I managed without a bandsaw before, it is like I have been...

Flush router bit for 60mm hardwood join.

The Wadkin UOS I have has a decent flat and solid out feed, the issue will possibly be the length of the outfeed. The slabs close in the centre and slight gap at the ends so thinking if I do a few passes until they outfeed flat on the surface, it should take away the slight curve with not too...

Flush router bit for 60mm hardwood join.

Thanks guys, a few different ways I could tackle it then. In an attempt to save on setup and cash, I’ll try clamping the boards and planing them first. I’d be hopeful about doing it that way and the planer does give good results, it will be good to know for future too. It only needs a minimal...

Flush router bit for 60mm hardwood join.

I see now! Run the two boards clamped together through the planer! Now there’s an idea 💡 I would never have thought of that.

Flush router bit for 60mm hardwood join.

Thanks for the idea. I have heard of people doing it this way although was unsure about myself making a good job of doing both slabs at the same time. I guess if I lifted both slabs from the flat surface using the same thickness packers I.e. plywood or mdf strips, I can set the gap to enable as...

Flush router bit for 60mm hardwood join.

Thanks Triton, I’ll take a look at these.

Flush router bit for 60mm hardwood join.

Thanks. I guess I could use a guide rail against the flat edge of the router base for a straight edge Thanks. Actually a long kitchen cutter may be the answer if I just run the base of the router along my plunge saw guiderail or another straight edge. I have seen 70mm kitchen cutters.

Flush router bit for 60mm hardwood join.

Thanks. I’ve used Wealden cutters for slab flattening before, I’ve found their bits to give a good quality finish.

Flush router bit for 60mm hardwood join.

Happy Holidays everyone. Looking for a little advice from the grapevine. I have taken on a project for a client with a set of burr elm book-matched slabs to be joined. Although the wood is well prepped and dry/flat, the long square edges to be joined need straightened with only a few mm out...

SCM Minimax S45 Bandsaw Teardown & Overhaul

This setup looks awesome guys! I’d presume (knowing nothing about engineering) that the incredible tension on the 10mm threaded bar would stop any movement/slip on the thread with vibrations while the saw is running now that the upgraded thrust bearing is making it easier to dial? Other than...

SCM Minimax S45 Bandsaw Teardown & Overhaul

Allot of useful advice there. It makes me feel much more confident about the S45’s capabilities and of course the upgraded bearings lifespan within the correct limitations is great to know also. I guess there must be many chippies who are tempted to push their machines to the limits or over...

The insert plate looks perfect. Great to know the fence is accurate too.

SCM Minimax S45 Bandsaw Teardown & Overhaul

My apologies Deema. I should have had the cable distance measured out well before now. In all honesty, I should have realised you needed the length size when you asked how I was needing to connect the machine to the transwave and did not expect you would be actually wiring it up ready to use...

SCM Minimax S45 Bandsaw Teardown & Overhaul

What a superb overall on the SCM you are both doing. Thanks both Deema and Sideways for such great work and detailed information about this bandsaw. I can’t thank you enough! I am going to do your cast top cleaning methods on the Wadkin UOS, some great advice there and great pictures to show...

Wadkin UO/S 18/9” Planer Thicknesser (power supply)

Hi all. It was a while since I posted this thread. I just wanted to conclude that the end result was a ‘rotary’ converter. This cost around £1500, although that was all that had to be installed then it was simply plug and play running the 5hp machine on a 5.5kw rotary converter. The rotary...
