    dust extractors

Hi yellow_lamborghini_2406 I have the Charnwood version of this model and I find that it is quiet enough to have a conversation. I have used it with all my machinery and it coped with everything. It did leave chippings on the thicknesser bed but I believe that is acceptable as I have read...

    Help!

Ewan, I plan to build extensions made from MDF which will sit on the bench to support the timber. I think the biggest piece of timber I could work on is about 5 feet, unless I took it outside. But then I could not attach the extractor as the hose doesn't strech that far. Just have to realise...

    Help!

Thanks for putting my mind at rest lads, if all you need are the rollers then the machine is ok. Mark the cutting head is lowered via the red knob, I have tried the machine and it works fine, I just could not understand why the tables weren't level with the cutting bed. The machine, I made...

    Help!

Hi Tony thanks for the reply. I don't think I have made myself clear. As you can see from the pic, the level straddles the cutting bed and the rollers of the tables but misses the tables completely. I have had another look and I am baffled as to how I can raise the infeed and outfeed table...

    Help!

I've been trying to get the infeed/outfeed tables level with the cutting bed of my Axminster thicknesser. Unfortunately the in and outfeed tables are about 2mm lower than the cutting bed, however the rollers on the tables are at the same level, is this correct? Here is a picture of a level...

    Planes

I wouldn't bother with Lee and Nielson they are just too expensive or over-engineered whichever way you look at it. Set the cat amongst the pigeons there Jacob :D Phil

    Jet JTS10

Hi Mike thanks for the reply. I am now thinking about seeing if I can do without the TS and just use the bandsaw and Skil saw. Having just spent a lot on a Jet workshop air filter, thicknesser and planer, maybe it would be wise to hold back. Plus after reading the thread about TS safety...

    Aldi

The problems I had with my cheap SIP TS were: Banana shaped fence Lousy adjustment on said fence Mitre rail very loose Crap control on setting the mitre However some would argue what do you want for £90? :? Phil

    Jet JTS10

Has anyone used one of these? I should be in the position of upgrading my TS and i'm looking at this model from APTC. Any comments appreciated. Phil

    Aldi

Although I posted this, it is only a heads up. As I've previously mentioned, I bought a SIP TS from Costco for £90ish and am totally disappointed with it. If I could get rid of it I would and save up for a decent one. I take on board what Tony said, normally you get what you pay for, but if...

    Aldi

If anyone is interested Aldi have got some tools on offer at the moment, including a table saw for £70 and digital calipers for £9. Netto also have a pillar drill for £25. Phil

    Bargain Maybe?

I agree with you Shaun, I bought a SIP TS from Costco, big mistake. You think at 45 I should have known that you get what you pay for and should have saved up until I could afford a decent one. I have to use my Trend guide clamp as a fence, not ideal and after reading about the inherent dangers...

    Perform CCAF Air Filter

I bought the Jet about a week ago and I'm happy with it. It's very quiet and is smaller than the Perform. The visible difference is the air filter, it is bigger, it has a two and four hour timer. The machine isn't as heavy and I also got 10% off the price :D Phil

    Unreasonable expectations??

I thought I would throw my tuppence worth in Mark, for what it is worth. I think you are justified in wanting value for money and as I think you have pointed out, the machine is not fit for purpose. What the Jet rep is hoping is that you won't be bothered to go to all the fuss of returning the...
