    Warranted Superior Historians assemble!

I’m super happy with how it came out, and it cuts well too, only had to sharpen it. Could maybe do with a jointing and seeing again at some point in the future but does a grand job now

    Warranted Superior Historians assemble!

You could always joint them if they were really bad and cut in and set new teeth

    Warranted Superior Historians assemble!

It’s just not really caused an issue so far. I’ve been working on the Tyzack today and a bit of work on the blade and it’s come up super smooth. Just waiting until tomorrow for the handle to dry and then I’ll get to sharpening

Thread direction of a tote, why?

To be fair, the foot broke off because I’ma heavy handed clumsy ***** in this case

    Warranted Superior Historians assemble!

I’ve done a couple so far and they’re in regular use 😊

    Warranted Superior Historians assemble!

Yeah the red one is odd isn’t it. I can’t even figure out what the design in the middle is meant to be, it’s very odd.

Thread direction of a tote, why?

That depends on if I’m feeling like a cheeky scamp again or not

Thread direction of a tote, why?

Well I buggered it up. Crying shame though, it was looking really good Broke the foot of it in half, the ever so slightly misaligned the threaded insert and broke that too. Live and learn though, the next one will be better

    Warranted Superior Historians assemble!

Right, so earlier I picked up three saws to restore. Bought the lot for a tenner. Looking forward to bringing the Tyzack 14B back to life. The other two are Warranted Superior. I’ve read a bunch on the WS medallions, from the Disston seconds to use from other brands. I’ve seen the eagle, coat...

Thread direction of a tote, why?

You see this is what I don’t understand. Not saying you’re wrong, but the hook gets very little aggravation and the through bolt stops the foot breaking surely? Maybe not, but that’s why I’m asking the question

Thread direction of a tote, why?

Here’s a question that may cause uproar but I’m honestly curious of the answer I’m making a new tote for my old Record number 5 as it’s my favourite plane and it took an unfortunate tumble breaking the original along the grain. As you’ll see, I’m completely ignoring probably hundreds of years...

    Parkinson Vise Wobble

I restored my old Parkinson a while ago and had to bodge what I imagine were previous bodges on the quick release after one of the clamping bits broke. I get very little left to right movement, but the bloody thing sticks constantly which means to unwind it I have to give it a whack every couple...

    Newark Show

I would have loved to attend. I used to religiously go to events in another industry and really enjoyed the fact that loads of people gathered for the same purpose. Always interesting stuff to see etc. I believe Newark is the closest show we get in Norwich, arguably London as well I guess, so...

    Buying cheap tools

I buy second hand when I can, it saves something from another land fill potentially and whether you’re fixing it up or not is a solid way of spending less money. I’m disabled and live month to month generally so spunking big money on stuff isn’t an issue. When I can’t get secondhand I still go...

Post a photo of the last thing you made

Still making it to be honest but it’s taking forever! Got thrown off by having to fix a knackered raising and lowering of the blade mechanism in the saw, also customising my fence to work on the newer longer rail that someone kindly gifted me I’ve still got more to do with banding, edging...

Hoping I can make this Startrite Mercury 2 live again!

Ok so I’ve bowed to my lack of electrical knowledge and done what @HOJ suggested and taken the motor to Electrical Rewinds in Norwich. Very nice bloke had a look at it for me and I was on the right track for a bunch of the fixes which is nice to know. That being said, there was an issue I...

Hoping I can make this Startrite Mercury 2 live again!

It’s definitely a bit on the rough side! I found this…. But you can barely read it - that’s after editing the pic. You can’t see anything really with the naked eye

Hoping I can make this Startrite Mercury 2 live again!

Well I think that wire needs replacing, but surely that’s not enough to cause a short?!

Hoping I can make this Startrite Mercury 2 live again!

Well this doesn’t look right, but I doubt it would be the cause of the short?

Hoping I can make this Startrite Mercury 2 live again!

I don’t know what this switch internally does, but I imagine it should be a lot cleaner than that
