    Hand Tool Wall Cabinet

Hi everyone, I’m planning to build a hand tool wall cabinet one day. I have looked at many of these online and on YouTube. However, very few give much advice on the wood used and as a relative beginner, I would welcome any ideas. I’m going to have to purchase the wood and I’m looking at...

    Narex chisels

To be honest, I really like the look of those Narex 8116. I know its not about the aesthetics really but hey if you feel good about them, its a bonus if they perform well too. Regards...Rob

    Narex chisels

Hi Wend, I'm also in the same market as you were and have exactly the same question as above. What did you choose in the end? Also wondered if anyone also has anymore input given its now 3 years since this post. Kind Regards... Rob

Carpet Tiles in a Workshop - Thoughts (Good or Bad Idea?)

Hi Everyone, I've aquired some virtually new, in really good condition carpet tiles. They are good hard wearing ones, not fluffy domestic type. I dont want to spend a fortune on the rubber type interlocking ones either, these are free. I have seen a video by stumpy nubs about the benefits of...

    Riving knife with crosscut sled

I have this same problem and im intending to slice the top off my riving knife so it ends up a mm just below the blade height. It moves up and down in sequence with my blade anyway.

    Bandsaw Blade Lubricant

I personally wouldn't want to use lubrication on my bandsaw blade. You need the rubber to blade side clean of oil or lubricant as a must, surely? Rob

    No No's on projects

I hate using screws for skirting (although its a much better way of fixing obviously). If screws are used, they look awful and you need to fill them, sand and paint over. I know its rare but if you need to get it back off, its then a major chore finding the screw again. No nails wont come off...

Using an impact Driver for Screwing?

I use a very powerful ryobi which has variable settings on. Its really good but i only tend to use it for heavy work. I dont use for fine woodworking or anything light duty where too much torque would break the thread on the wood and make a worse fixing. Regards... Rob

Dust extraction, am i over thinking this? Advice please.

Mine is a simple Henry and ive extended the flexible hose so it reaches everywhere in my single garage workshop. It has a shelf under my tablesaw where it permanently sits. I just move and put the nozzle on whatever im using at the time such as my sanding disc, bandsaw etc. I also have the brush...

    Vintage Saw Handle Finish

I have just restored my old tenon saw. I have put boiled linseed on the handle and wanted to maybe do it over again with shellac. Is it recommended? Also, where can I get a tin or bottle of shellac that will be suitable for this and other restoration projects? Kind Regards… Rob

Rust protection for planes and saws etc

Hi all, just wondering what I should pop on my planes and vintage saw blades. My choice was Rust-oleum furniture wax or 3 in 1 oil. I have those in so one or the other. Kind Regards …. Rob

What to seal the edge of a veneer door thats been cut?

Really appreciate that thanks Mark, such a kind offer. I do have the material already though to be honest it was just more of me thinking about the methodology so it doesnt look like a dogs dinner (or fall off either). Regards... Rob

What to seal the edge of a veneer door thats been cut?

I’m going to have this issue. I have what looks like the exact door. The door is too large for the opening and if I trim down, it will go past the oak edge band. I was thinking of taking off the edge, trimming the chipboard and then putting the edge back on. I realise there may be a seen line...
