    Lathe suggestions for new hobby?

Vipered, Already you can see that there are a wide variety of lathes and of course opinions, (a fact I am not criticising - it just shows how variable one's needs and wants can be). I too would agree that visiting a club and/or a professional woodturning tutor is worth its weight in wood! It...

    Wet turned beech

Hi Chris I like the movement in that - I hope you're pleased with it as well. I reckon if you had a very small 'foot' of a smaller diameter than the current base, it would physically and metaphorically lift it and create a shadow line. That is just my opinion, though, so please take it as a...

    Pointing between paving slabs

Depending on the accessibility, you could take and angle grinder to the concrete to widen the joint - then mortar point as normal. If not, something like this might do the trick; https://www.toolstation.com/shop/p40082 ... gIwIvD_BwE HTH

    Dremel Tip for lettering

Ladies and Gents, I hope you can advise - I want to have a wee go at some VERY simple 'engraving' letters on the edge of a wooden chopping board. Can anyone please tell me which sort of dremel tip I need? And should I get a more expensive one (e.g. TCT), or is a cheapo good enough for a...

    Workshop floor

Depends how bumpy - if it is really uneven, you'll need a self levelling compound, (which does kinda self level, but needs to be installed with care). If its just slightly rough concrete, you may get away with jigsaw tiles - I just installed some in the kids judo club gym and although the...

Adventures in metalwork and machine restoration!

I know jack - .... about metal working, but even I can see that is a proper job. And you've got some serious space there! What does your firm do, other than source awesome machines and various other associated pieces of tooling?

    Liquid Floor Screed

Also, if you have 'wet' underfloor heating - ie pipes, ensure they are full of water and up to pressure, (but NOT HOT), when the screed is laid. I understand this is to prevent any possible pipe collapse, (unlikely though that will be, IMHO)

    Lidl diamond files

I found them really weak - bing 'ping' noise when they gave up under my fairly mediocre grip.

Someone appreciates my limited carpentry skills

Thank you, Marcros, for lowering the tone!! (Well, beating me to it). Excellent work, Nev - That is great footage to see. Can you let us know what camera set up you have as we've been spectacularly unsuccessful in capturing our guinea pigs in their den. Cheers Greg
