I'm only new to it, Phil, but I'm learning (with my brother, who's a few steps ahead of me). What's actually going wrong with yours?

    calling all bakers ...

Sourdough is your friend. If you're new to it, (as am I), YouTube and search Chef Rachida - she's brilliant and explains it really well

    searching this site/

Absolutely fair point. However, a chainsaw or planer/ thicknesser cannot be thrown very far, (and stop running pretty soon after being thrown). A hammer can be thrown further, but still not quite as far as a bullet or pellets.

    New to wood turning.

Hi Paul, I noticed you're in Bewdley. I'm in Stourbridge and I have the Foundation Course book, which I'm happy to lend you, if you like. I've dug out a coupe of other books, including Turning Green Wood by Mike O'Donnell. Although I do want them back, you're welcome to come and grab them any...

How to keep the nice light oak colour....

As Phil says, but it will still darken. If you are desperate to keep it that natural colour and not darken it at all, could you get a piece of toughened glass for it?

    Simple project with my daughter

Superb project and a great way to spend time with your kids. Mine are 19 and 17 and although they wouldn't dream of stepping for in the workshop now, I think they remember a few of our previous efforts together. Beautiful stool, (luckily, otherwise her brother would take great delight in...

What's the difference between "Trade" and other paint?

Since removal of lead from oil paint, they will all yellow over time. Water based is good now, but not as shiny or crisp as oil based. Bedec MSP is said to be great on almost everything, (I've used it inside, very happy with it and goes on anything with minimal prep), bit I've not used it...

    Steel to make tools

Morning good people, I'm toying with making a 3-point tool and an inside scraper for box making. I've no experience of metal work, so it'll only be grinding wheel shaping, no heat or bending, etc. So my questions, after some internet searching is: Do I need tool steel, silver steel...
