    Invasion of US Capitol building

Interesting facts and views shared here. I love that we can all discuss, diverge, agree, disagree... Also interesting that all of us, (here and elsewhere), use sources as per our view. For example, there have been big fans of the BBC and other UK channels, (and to less extent US channels, obvs...

Anyone got any wooden things to show us? Or metal, if that's your thang - no bias here, friends 😀

    Invasion of US Capitol building

Trainee Not left or right here, but by your argument that it was stoked by eg antifa, that means that all the others are idiots and jut followed the clever false protestor(s). Likewise, by the same logic, far right extremists actually tricked the BLM protestors into vandalism, rioting, etc back...

Pen turning - Jaws for a Nova Scroll Chuck (Old style!)

You don't have to use pen jaws, if you can get long nosed jaws that hold the blank steady, they're fine

    Graver Handle

That's a lovely piece of work. As an ignoramus, could I ask what is a graver used for?

    Invasion of US Capitol building

DW, It's refreshing to hear your thoughts from your side of the pond - the news and social media does tend to inflate the pictures of tensions on 'both' sides. What I think we find shocking, is that whilst the normal folks like you, who are either non political or in the middle ground, are...

Me too, though probably don't see it around as it tarnishes so easily. I've heard that coating it with varnish will prevent that, but have no experience of it - open up the floor for others' to comment?

    Under Floor Heating

I installed water-filled UFH over new concrete screed on ground floor extension. On strong advice, I used engineered (ie plywood backed), oak boards to avoid warping, cupping, etc. Whilst it hasn't warped or cupped, the boards have moved apart in places, despite careful glueing with high quality...

    Scrabble tabble

Bloody hell! That is a work of art - I'd be scared to damage it through use. Amazing 👏

    Extension

Doug, that's brilliant, thanks. I don't have a tall pillar drill, so was thinking I'll have to go by eye, ( maybe slightly larger holes than needed, in case of wander), or, after marking, set the ext bed on a cradle on the lathe and advance it slowly onto drill held in headstock.

The living hell of dust extraction diameters

Have axminster got various adapters? 3 size options here might suit: https://www.axminstertools.com/axminster-tapered-step-hose-reducer-162mm-55mm-102535

    Extension

I've got the older version of the lathe, but the clown I bought the extension from told me, (incorrectly), that his extension was compatible. The actual bed ways are the same, just bolt holes different. Do you guys reckon if I clamp it in place with the tailstock across the join to mark it, an...
