    Parquet floor glue?

I used Lecol 5500 for my parquet floor, it seemed the most recommended product when I laid mine. Been down for over 3 years with no problems, although I do now have a few hollow sounding spots - I suspect my own fault as I don't think the concrete was level enough underneath. Sent from my...

    Oil fired workshop heating

As I've got some spraying to do in the middle of winter, my hand has finally been forced to sort out some heating for my workshop. It's a 1.5 car garage built in double skin insulated cavity blockwork on three sides against the house, with an uninsulated lean-to roof and garage doors on both...

    Axminster Ultimate Edge

CBN = cubic boron nitride. Much harder and longer life wheels than the conventional aluminium oxide that bench grinders come with. Expensive, but likely to last longer than you will! Sent from my SM-N910F using Tapatalk

Axminster CT330 planer + shelix head

At £300 more than the straight knife model, I think that's very keenly priced actually. If it had a proper induction motor rather than the screamer that type of machine always comes with I'd definitely be looking at getting one. Sent from my SM-N910F using Tapatalk

    DUST MASKS - again

I use a 3M 7500 with the relevant filters for spraying, I find it to be a good mask - comfortable and no noticeable leakage. I don't have any particular issues with other masks fitting though so maybe my face is the right shape! Sent from my SM-N910F using Tapatalk

    Good news!

In my ignorance I have always assumed that electrical circuits would trip out in faults like this. The RCD on my consumer unit is certainly eager to trip out anyway. Could you share with us what circuit this was connected to Steve and what protection was on it?

    Extra long jigsaw blade

The longest I am aware of that is easily available is the Bosch T344DP - cuts to 100mm. They make a longer blade, the T744D3, but you will have to hunt around for one. As others have said, the jigsaw isn't a precision tool especially on deep cuts so don't expect miracles.

Accurate *small* holes with a router?

I made a circle cutting base plate from Bill Hylton's "router magic". The base plate has a t slot routed into it, a corresponding t bar with a nail through it adjusts the radius by sliding in the groove and then gets locked in position. I've never explored it's minimum hole capability but I...

Dust Extractor - are the blowers all pretty similar?

Some good questions here. For detailed answers, there is a sticky in the "Buying Advice/Tool Reviews" section, but essentially: Blower diameter and motor speed governs pressure. Pretty much any motor on this type of unit runs at 3,000rpm - so diameter is directly proportional to maximum...

INCRA Miter Gauge 1000SE retailer? (or anyone selling used?)

As above - Peter is the main importer of Incra products I believe. As to the price increases, it's an American product; look only to the exchange rate history to see why prices have gone up. I leave you to draw your own conclusions for the causes of the trend... Sent from my SM-N910F using Tapatalk

WHAT IS THE BEST ROUTER TABLE.

Yes it's volume of flow that takes dust and chips away. My router table has a 2.5" port on the fence and under table extraction; I find that a twin motor extractor like Rob's actually does a pretty decent job on mine. Cutters used in router tables are quite small compared to a 10" table saw...

WHAT IS THE BEST ROUTER TABLE.

I doubt the cyclone will have much of a detrimental impact on the flowrate through Rob's system as it generates a high suction pressure. A cyclone when sized correctly for the system flow rate should generate about 6" (water) of pressure loss. Compare this to the suction pressure of a good chip...

Fixing a crack in a worktop

Thanks for all the tips. I think I'll use the epoxy option, I'll need to get some in as I normally use JB Weld for small repairs of household items and I don't fancy the look of that for this job! I think a clear epoxy would look best in this case, any particular product recommendations? Good...

Fixing a crack in a worktop

I'm close to finishing the piece of worktop that will go around my new kitchen sink, and after finishing the cut out I've noticed a crack in the end of one of the staves which unfortunately faces onto the sink (it's an undermount belfast type sink). You can see the crack in the attached, which...

Router motor for roter table? Are AUK-tools any good?

The spindle motors I have seen are three phase induction motors. They are frequently sold with a VFD that takes a single phase input and gives a variable frequency three phase output for speed control. As I said I'm not sure I can be of much use with sourcing such a motor, since I would normally...

Router motor for roter table? Are AUK-tools any good?

The ER20 collet system gives you the capacity to clamp any bit from 1-13mm. Each collet has a 1mm clamping range, so just choose the appropriate collet for whatever shank you have (the collets are interchangeable on the spindle; you can buy a whole set for not much money). If you're looking at...

Router motor for roter table? Are AUK-tools any good?

In the interests of balance, I should say the disadvantage of this route is that the normal use of these spindles is in a CNC machine so the mounting is down to you as the builder of the machine. Using a router, installing an existing machine upside down is relatively straightforward and height...

Router motor for roter table? Are AUK-tools any good?

Something like this: https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre ... 2025941620 The common "Chinese Spindle" comes in a range of standard sizes, some water cooled and some air. My preference would be water cooled as it can only be a good thing to reduce the effects of dust on motor longevity. Some...

Router motor for roter table? Are AUK-tools any good?

If it were my project I would look at a small CNC spindle. You can get an 80mm spindle with a 3 phase VFD (8-24000rpm speed range) and an ER20 collet for the same sort of money as a half decent router. I reckon the bearings and motor quality will be much better on the spindle than a screaming...
