It splits and warps like mad whilst drying, but is a lovely orange colour once stable.

I use a section cut from a gallon milk jug, works just fine.

Thanks, we're fortunate indeed, Olive is plentiful, the Ipe.... I found a slab of it at the dump a few years back and slice bits off it sparingly for small projects like inserts and finials ...

I am lucky indeed, this particular piece I did buy though, wider than the average firewood log ...

I try to leave as much mass towards the centre as i can whilst shaping towards the rim, keeps things more solid, less vibration, sharp tools are a must.

I want one now, lovely clean cut too.
