Much as i love the outboard function on my DVR.... it always needs realigning, i do this by eyeing a couple of the pointy drives but when i try to create smaller lidded boxes i notice a fractional misalignment.... currently i don't have 30 plus quid to spend on a double ended morse taper chunk...

Maybe buy a cheaper gouge to practice on.......

Or 10.000 toothpicks 😁

Maybe cut the Fordite into a butterfly.....inlay and turn......

Update: The large chuck jaws and new gouge i ordered have been held up, i say hijacked by Spanish customs (also my medicine) due to brexit for weeks now so this project has been shelved 🤬

I trimmed it up pretty well with my chainsaw and the lathe itself is really heavy, there really isn't that much in the way of vibration, in fact it's a rather enjoyable ride

Initially 250 rpm...now up to 300......

Scored a large slab of Olive, cheap due to inclusions (which i'll be filling with Copper), my biggest turning effort yet..... 50cm diameter.... fruit bowl/Platter... takes ages to stop turning due to the weight LOL, watch this space.....

This experiment was a combination of cheap Acrylic paint mixed into a product we have in Europe that is used on porous wood, it absorbs well into the project....the big tin is cheap...£5 as is the paint
