    Gas meter box

My gas meter is inside the porch, which is usually locked. Is this an issue? Never heard of any requirement for the gas company to have access.

    Rosewood finish

I have a cheap coffee table I bought from Argos that's solid Sissoo so it might be some sort of rosewood at least. I was not expecting my Argos table to be covered by CITES and yet it is now.

    Ceramic frying pan

You should be fine with mild detergents (like washing up liquid) on a well seasoned pan, dishwasher is not a good idea. A good oil to use is flaxseed oil (i.e. food grade linseed) as it will dry and form a seasoning coat more easily than normal oils.

    Any boffins here?

It should, and does in my glue bottle at least. I stop squeezing and the glue in the nozzle is sucked back into the bottle by the bottle trying to return to its natural shape.

Holiday to USA, anything worth picking up?

I think it's £25 for things shipped into the country (i.e. something posted), the higher limit is for things you bring back in person.

    Fiat V Ferrari

I have a set of wooden handled footprint chisels from ebay that are my main set. I find them nice in the hand and they hold an edge just fine for my purposes.

    Tuff Saws rock!

I typoed the length, he spotted it was different from my previous order and queried before making them. Top notch service. =D>

    Timber in and around Leeds

In working my way through 10 cube of their oak at the moment. Been good quality so far. Related, has anyone tried the Quatersawn Oak Company in Edale? The clue is in the name, website says £55 a cube for waney edge quarter sawn which seems pretty decent.

    Vertical adjustable shelf dividers

You could use rare earth magnets rather than spring clips for a more hidden apparence I'd think. You'd need steel strips embedded in the shelf though.

    Dust extraction

I have the slightly larger model with power take off. It's adequate for tools and small machines, but it's not great and you won't get full extraction on anything larger than a router. For instance it doesn't fully collect from my circular saw (but that's also probably the saw itself) nor from...

    gloves

I like these, they're tougher than most gloves so don't tend to tear at inconvenient times. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B005ELVMHU

    Rip thin strips? (3mmx3mm)

I think the tape would likely break the strips too. 3mm square isn't going to be very strong. How much do you need? Is it possible to rip oversize and plane to size?

    Rip thin strips? (3mmx3mm)

I'm afraid the answer is bandsaw, they're just much better at this sort of thing. You're basically asking why it's so hard to put pins in with a sledge hammer.

Edited - Which track saw (rather than which circular saw)?

I use a cheapy circular saw and a straight edge. (homer)

Record 53 vice - rocker bar size?

My Record 52½ has a 1" by ⅛" rocker bar, so I think you're on the right track there.

    Router bit sizing - help!

Hand plane would be quicker than a file for rough shaping. Interested to see how you get on though.

Record 53 vice - rocker bar size?

91/64" is very specific. More likely to be 3/2" I'd have thought.

Yay, bullnose plane prices set to rise

Hmm, I'd been considering getting one, better get cracking before they get silly.

Quick release vice just too tedious? This is for you :)

The clear plastic that will likely crack within a few years... :|

    Pallet wood: is this birch???

Looks a lot like my birch firewood when cut. Assuming a UK pallet there's not much else it's likely to be as that doesn't look like a typical pallet softwood. I made my PS workbench from the cheapest whitewood - it has the advantage that it's very easy to plane so you can lash it together more...
