    Aluminium sash cramps.

Agreed. I used contact adhesive and they're sticking just fine.

    sgs engineering.. BEWARE!

I had an awkward return with SGS, I quoted the consumer contracts act at them and they begrudgingly accepted "as a gesture of goodwill". As mentioned above, if bought on a credit card and more than £100, you can use the consumer credit act to just claim off the credit card company as they are...

    Aluminium sash cramps.

I have a set of silverline cramps, as the others they are very cheaply made, but serviceable with the wooden insert (18×28 par whitewood goes straight in) and a couple of plywood pads glued on.

    oxy propane advice

Agreed and be prepared for much scratching of chins and sucking air through teeth.

Nice App for joints and types of wood

Why is it nothing else needs to ask for that permission? Apps should be a bit more resilient to being interrupted without needing full access. You don't need permission to make an outgoing call to respond to an incoming call, which is what it was requesting.

    Sit-Stand Desk - Completed Project

There are stacks of linear actuators on ebay, all fresh from China, but cheap at least. e.g. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/12V-Linear-A ... v-kVgNVZ0A Would these fit the bill?

    oxy propane advice

They are a legal requirement these days. If you were to run without them and cause an accident, assuming you survive, you'd invalidate your insurance and be on the hook for all damage caused. Not really worth it if you ask me.

Post a photo of the last thing you made

Not the most exciting project, but useful. I made myself a proper set of winding sticks. They're part of a reclaimed handrail (possibly utile or sapele) with walnut and birch inlays. Finish is blonde shellac.

Nice App for joints and types of wood

Installed it, couldn't find a way to close it once in it. Also it wanted access to make phone calls. A bit suspicious.

Where to buy british hardwoods in/near Derbyshire

I've had wood delivered from Scawton. No complaints. Helpful on the phone, the actual delivery was done by strapping it to a pallet and using a courier.

    Hard finish over epoxy

Epoxy might take a couple of weeks to fully harden mechanically. I'd be inclined to put a coat of high temperature polyurethane over it though as that will have a tougher surface.

    Hardwearing Jeans.

I like Levi 501s. They're the classic choice for a reason.

Is this dining bench strong enough?

A lot of people seem to think rustic means shoddy workmanship. I agree with you Trevanion, they need replacing.

    Christmas craft fair ideas?

I have considered making one of those, copper mesh lining a box would be the idea.

    Christmas craft fair ideas?

Wireless chargers use magnetism to transfer charge. Actually quite similar to any other transformer, albeit less efficient. Same principle as induction hobs.

    Is this chisel worth saving?

Interesting use, not something I'd normally go for if I needed a powerful screw or bolt driver (I'd typically grab a socket set).

    Table Saws: Purchase recommendations

If it's a consumer sale (i.e. a business selling to a consumer) then there are always some rights, these cannot be waived regardless of what you sign / click on. These include that the product must work and that you can return it for repair or replacment if it doesn't, unless it's clearly...

Beginners question - squaring sawn timber

o I also use hand tools, mostly my no. 5 plane. £30 off ebay and it can square a board just fine. Not to mention it doesn't require a few hundred quid (minimum) of dust extraction.

Edge joining boards (or pieces thereof)

Which edge did you glue to which edge? If you're gluing long grain (i.e. not end grain) faces together then you should get a very strong joint. If one side is end grain you'll need some joinery in there, tenoning it in would be a classic joint, biscuits or dowels for something quicker and more...

    Table Saws: Purchase recommendations

Is it worth considering a bandsaw instead since you mainly want to resaw batons? Would give more depth capacity and the ability to do curved cuts should you wish to.
