What glue to use for melamine to melamine?

Unfortunately there isn't a handy solvent for melamine due to the way it is made, great for longevity of your tableware but not great for repairs.

I'll take them off your hands for a nominal fee.

Advice on Decibels and Dust Extraction please

Phone mics are terrible for measuring sound levels, they clip at a relatively low level so it's possible it couldn't measure some of the frequencies on the before correctly and was giving a false reading. I have a cheap sound meter and even that is massively better than a phone. Also 72 dB...

What glue to use for melamine to melamine?

I'd suggest either epoxy, though it may be a little too brittle, or contact adhesive. Basically anything that will stick hard plastics should do it. Superglue would also work but it's not great with heat.

    Spray finishing....the choices

On the other hand, plastic doesn't rust or corrode which can be handy, though less of an issue if you're not using water based finishes.

Planning a kitchen build for next year

I have the £30 sprayer Peter mentioned on his channel and it's excellent - I managed to great finish with Dulux quick drying eggshell, it's really smooth and even. And this from a complete spraying noob (I've only ever rattle canned a few things before).

    Second hand planes....

I do around 4 to 5 coats of shellac on my plane handles, gives them a nice traditional feel.

    Gmail gremlins

Maybe 20 years ago, these days you can use any of them for anything. Originally co.uk was commercial, .org was any not for profit organisation (not just individuals), .net was for network service providers, etc.

    Cutting Stock Dorset

Hand saw? You could probably knock out the required cuts in no time if it's only 10mm thick.

    Fisheyes in Epoxy? (pics)

Interesting paper: https://scielo.conicyt.cl/scielo.php?sc ... 8000300443 Wood has a varying surface energy depending on how it is prepared. Sawn oak in their study had a surface energy in the range 40-41 dyne/cm, which is similar to that of epoxy. Sanded oak had a much higher surface energy...

    Black filler.

I've used it (Sugru), it's nothing like epoxy. It's a single part synthetic rubber. It cures to a soft rubber consistency. You cannot sand it, if you try it will peel off (by design). Milliput and Sugru are nothing alike (I have used both), nor are they intended to be. Sugru by its own...

    Aerosol Spray Paint on Wood

Maybe not hard to match as its just a quick run through to get a primer coat, but are you saying that wickes don't machine spray all their stuff? At their volume of sales? I hardly think they have a couple of staff out the back with an ebay spray gun.

    Sanding kills grain?

Try a hoover and then a tack cloth after sanding, that should pick up all the dust. Alternatively, get a card scraper.

Conspiracy nuts. (split from Re: How does this work?)

True, in the strict sense it was illegal, but when you're miles from civilisation down a dirt road in Arizona, who is to know?

Conspiracy nuts. (split from Re: How does this work?)

Luckily in my case it was in America so the policeman would have no grounds for prosecution.

Conspiracy nuts. (split from Re: How does this work?)

Interesting thread. My one time shooting a pistol involved driving out to a quiet spot and shooting some old gas cans. Not exactly proper health and safety.

Good tip on the Chinese plates, I ordered two (80 and 180 for rehabilitating ebay finds) from aliexpress for $6 today.

    Axminster 5 1/2 plane issues?

Most of my planes are 70+ years old and have a couple of turns of backlash. 6 seems really high.

    Wardrobe rail and fixings

I have these: https://www.screwfix.com/p/smith-locke- ... 25mm/8092v They are plenty sturdy if mounted well, it depends on your span a little. I have them set up in a 1.5m span with a centre hanger (from the shelf above), so each unsupported span is 75 cm. Shelf above is 18mm MFC and I've not...
