    Computer power supply issues?

Hi Chas Thanks for that... got to be worth a try! I'll see what I can dig up.

    Computer power supply issues?

Hi This isn't about the actual power supply in the computer, more the AC coming to the computer... I think. We need a small computer in the warehouse, nothing fancy, just for printing labels, delivery notes etc. Problem is, we've tried two and neither of them will boot up. They start ok, then...

    Finishing mistake?

Really don't know; I think it's unlikely to be honest, I think the gel stain still needs to penetrate a bit. I'd worry about it adhering to the sealer.

    Finishing mistake?

Vigorous sanding (starting at 80/120 grit) should remove enough of the sealer to allow the stain to penetrate. If the surface feels like bare timber after sanding you're probably ok. Only way to avoid this would be to use a tinted wax over the sealer, but that does limit your choice of colour...

Anyone in Italy want to do me a favour?

Hi I wonder if any of our Italian members would like to do some detective work on my behalf and try to track down a product for me? I don't want to go into details here so please pm me for more information, there will be a 'finders fee' paid in one form or another!

    Finishing for turners

Sorry Kim, yes, that's what I meant to say... toy safe means it won't harm the child whatever they do with it (suck it, chew it or even swallow it). For the record, our Food Safe Finish doesn't contain nut oils. The recent addition of the text on the Osmo cans is possibly because there is now...

    Finishing for turners

I'm posting this to clarify something, not to cast aspersions (it might not need clarifying...but I think it does)... I think (in fact I'm pretty sure) that the phrases 'toy safe' and 'food safe' are being used here in the same way but with different meanings. 'Toy Safe' will mean that it's...

Bowl finish - Does toy safe have any food safe implication?

Speaking for our products, probably...but not necessarily suitable/hard wearing enough for toys. We have several products in our range that are tested for toy safety but we don't test them all because some of them, in our opinion, shouldn't be used for that purpose. (Friction Polish is an ideal...

Bowl finish - Does toy safe have any food safe implication?

Hi I've just answered your email Brian but really John has said it all, I can't fault his answer! Terry oh, and I'm blushing...

    Cloth Buffing wheels and Compounds

Just updating our Facebook page (go on, have a look!) and checked in on this thread which I'm been watching with interest. I haven't joined in before as I haven't had anything to add and I didn't want to be accused of promoting our product. However, I'd just like to clear up an apparent...

    Melamine lacquer problems

Simple answer. Melamine Lacquer is not tested for use in food contact. Therefore we do not recommend it for that purpose, instead we have a Food Safe Finish. Whilst we have no evidence to suggest that the product is harmful, and we know many people use it for food contact with no adverse...

Chestnut Buffing wheels, is this right?

Thanks - actually I felt guilty because it's taken a few days longer than planned and I didn't put an accompanying letter in! Time simply hasn't been on my side this week!

    Chestnut End Seal Problem

Hmmm... Regarding the Cellulose Sanding Sealer, this really is down to good house-keeping and making sure the threads of the neck are clean before putting the cap back on. Not that I do it myself every time, but it does make a difference. Removing these caps is all about leverage and grip...

Chestnut Buffing wheels, is this right?

Hello All Thank you all for your patience in waiting for a reply. I've finally got half an hour in the office to post a proper answer... We've already started the process of checking the wheels we have in stock, both by opening up the kits we have and also the 'loose' ones waiting to be bagged...

Chestnut Buffing wheels, is this right?

Thanks for the kind words above folks, and I'm also grateful to a certain forum member (I won't name names to avoid their blushes) who was kind enough to point me in the direction of this thread. This is currently silly season for us with exhibitions and demos etc, so I'm all over the place...

Chestnut Buffing wheels, is this right?

Hmm... I'd like to be able to say 'it could never happen' but experience has taught me (in pretty much every part of life, not just in business) to never say never. It sounds like a possibility. The difference between Wheel A and Wheel B is very slight, so it is possible they were transposed at...

    Chestnut Buffing System

I haven't posted on this previously because by the time I saw it (Monday morning) Chas had taken over and - as has been said - dealt with it as well as I could! Besides, I always think the opinion of a satisfied user is more relevant than the manufacturer's. Thanks Chas for doing such a sterling...

Timber and finish for salad bowl.

Really? I'm not saying this because I want to promote our Food Safe Finish, that's already been done and thanks...and whilst I don't want to suggest that it isn't safe, the last time I checked with Rustins they didn't have certification for their Plastic Coating...

Smartphone short of memory - any advice

Thanks Folks... I've messed around with the 'Contacts' settings and it's made a difference so far, although I fear a factory reset is looming. I use Rerware's MyBackUp which is pretty useful for restoring contacts, texts, bookmarks etc so would rely on that. If I do a reset, does it also wipe...

Smartphone short of memory - any advice

Hi I've got an HTC Desire which, in the main, I'm very happy with. Apart from the built-in memory, which I have discovered is a bit low. It was probably ample at the time, but at 512mb I think some apps have got carried away with themselves and eaten it up. I've removed as many downloaded apps...
