    Child friendly wood/paint

Hi Steve Yes, any of our acrylic lacquers would be suitable for this job, as would many others (see http://www.chestnutproducts.co.uk/faq.asp for a full list). We haven't tested all of our products as we don't think all of them will stand up to the (ab)use a toy might get, but this doesn't...

    Child friendly wood/paint

Hi All As mentioned, COSHH only really covers products during application, storage and transportation etc, not really the effects they could have as (in this case) a dried film. I don't think it's entirely correct to say that any product sold by a retailer would be suitable for use on toys...

If we're talking of Windows Live Messenger (as MSN now seems to be) isn't this the first tick box in tools>options>general?

    I'm speechless

That's dreadful Roger... did you cut something out of your original post by the way? Anyways, I'm with Russell on both of his points, it's sad to say but I don't think there's a way back from this. (There are loads of bad puns and poor jokes that could be made here, I'm not going to make any of...

    Ipods and mp3s and things

Wow, thanks tnimble, a very useful comparison. I really need to get my head around which features I really need at the moment and I guess which features I might kick myself about later if I haven't got them. Much of this will depend on how I intend to use it I suppose; as I say, I have a very...

    Ipods and mp3s and things

If old fashioned means wanting to do things how you want to do them rather than how someone somewhere thinks they should be done then there's a lot of us in the same basket! I wouldn't mind if we were given the choice, sort of 'you can do it your way but we think you might find this...

Your wife's an Amazon? Oh, I see what you mean... Thanks Jaymar, will appreciate your comments.

    Ipods and mp3s and things

Well I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels this way! Thanks guys. Don't you sometimes feel though that the gadgets themselves are getting over-cluttered as well? I'm still (now half-heartedly!) looking at mp3 players, but it's getting harder to get a simple one; they've got voice recorders...

Thanks as ever gents, loads to think about! I hadn't realised it was so complicated! I'm looking at all comments and reading up on them, thanks again!

Thanks for the link Eric, I will study it at leisure later.

    Ipods and mp3s and things

Hi Steve Thanks for the extra info. Strangely, I don't know anyone who has one that I could have a play with, or at least I don't think I know anyone with one, it's not something I've brought up in conversation. I didn't realise how 'complicated' this all was! Oh for the simple days again...

    Ipods and mp3s and things

Hi Roger The links were very interesting, just seems strange that you have to do some work to make something (in my opinion) easier to use! I've never really got into setting up playlists; I have various folders containing different types of music and just select them when I want to play them...

    Ipods and mp3s and things

Hi Roger I'm on a PC and the problem is I'm happy with the way I've got things organised on it, I'd simply want to be able to copy mp3s onto the shuffle, listen to them at my leisure and then overwrite them when I want to, hence my desire to drag'n'drop. That's how I use my current (limited)...

    Ipods and mp3s and things

Hi Steve Thanks for the extra input, always appreciated. I'm being put off the idea at the moment, call me old fashioned but I desist the idea of being told by a machine how I have to do things and what program I have to use! There's just something about things that take over that I don't...

    Ipods and mp3s and things

Thanks Slim... thanks Roger too, that's very important for me as well, especially as I often listen to plays and the like- not much fun finding out 'whodunnit' in Episode 4 before learning who the victim was in Episode 1! Is anyone able to confirm this 'feature' in the shuffle please? Also...

    Ipods and mp3s and things

Hi folks I'm tempted to ask Santa for an ipod shuffle, I like the small size and the clip on ability and I reckon it'll suit my needs to the ground. I've used mp3 players before, does and ipod play mp3s? It may sound stupid to ask but I get confused with itunes and I've never really looked...

    Another Cycling Question

I'd always wondered about these too, based on the fact that many cyclists ingore the red lights anyway and this answer made a lot of sense and made me feel a lot better about it... until this weekend that is when (in Brighton, although I don't know if that has any bearing) I saw a lot of these...

    Woodturning mag ?

As I understand it, the date on the cover is the date the magazine comes off sale, so that the shop knows when to take it off the shelves. A bit confusing but it's always been that way and is pretty much the same for all periodicals of this type.
