    Pump voltage

Thanks Sandyn, I’ll have to pass on that, although the diagram is simple, once into diodes and capacitors, I’m lost. I was kinda hoping in ignorance it would just output a voltage. I think I’ve got to go down pressure switch route or flow switch. thanks for your input though, it’s good to know...

    Pump voltage

Well, the pump is working good from the VFD. All runs as it should. For a control, I would like to add an auto pump shutoff when the water stops flowing (the irrigation system has an auto shut off mechanism when fully retracted). I can use a make break type switch on a flow switch to input into...

Decisions you have to live with.

What a superb idea, a lovely piece of the property’s history. Although, it’s not too late to reverse the process as you still haven’t finished the inside😉

    Saw stands

I’ve used the evolution one for five years since knocking my old mitre saw off a workmate. I use a 10” CMS on it. It is perfectly good for construction work. Holds the saw at a perfect height, is really stable on solid ground, grass etc. The bad points are the in and out rollers ar rarely...

    Cleaning?

All my cast iron on the workshop is regularly wiped over with a cloth damp with GT85. A light spray on the lathe bed, Mortimer or bandsaw table and wipe with the cloth. If not going to be used for a while, a smearing of machine wax rubbed on.

    Grinder advice needed.

There’s plenty of non OEM belts available, it’s just a great system without tie in to proprietary belts. I have no regrets splashing out decent money for it. I went through the grinder, Scheppach wet stone system and stopped at the Pro edge, and here I will stay. Used mainly for turning chisels...

    Them wer't days

Ditto, our local hardware store has all manner of fixings sold individually. Screws, bolts, nuts, washers, masonry fixings et al. Even a handful of nails is no problem, just like the hardware store I worked in for many years in the early seventies, nails sold by the quarter pound.

    Making small circles

Find someone who has a CNC machine. It would knock them out in seconds, line up as many as your piece of wood will accommodate. There’s plenty on here who have one.

Water softener connection to a spigot-type washing machine trap

I’d use a drain pipe off a washing machine/dishwasher and add this to the end. Job done. The 22mm you state is actually 3/4 bsp female. Plastic one here if preferred. You can put an ad on Facebook market place for a hose, someones always got a machine waiting to be scrapped.

New woodworking TV show on BBC2

I squirmed every time they passed lengths of oak across the planer without using push blocks. Both novices were clearly allowed to use the planer like that. One catch on a knot, the timber would have shot forward, and the hands would go straight down onto the planer knives. 😳😳😳

A garden project for my better half.

Deck support structure made and concreted in ready for the imminent arrival of the next batch of deck boards. Back wall of deck area hypo washed to get rid of the algae where the trellis panels were, and the internal woodwork has had two coats of clear oil. Furniture arrived today as well...

    House Buying - Advice?

One piece of advice I have always adhered to when buying a house (I’m on my 11th house) “better to buy the worst house in the best street, than the best house in the worst street”. whatever your reservations, just buy, you’ll always realise your nett outlay when all is taken into account...

And a very nice function room it is, especially with that it has lots of on-site parking. Drop in one Monday evening for a roll up.

    CNC help in Bristol?

Yes, totally depends on detail levels looked for. With resin pours which are sanded after, detail can be lost if the 2mm depth is too narrow. I use 40 or 60 degree for medium size work, 20 or 30 degree for finer. I think people’s expectation of resin detail is a little over ambitious at times...

Could you get a local engineer shop to reduce a mt2 chuck tail? easy if you take a tail centre in with you for them to copy.
