    Lathe ID?

Hi Will Not sure what thread it is but at those measurements it certainly isn't 33x3.5tpi as that is 33mm across the threads and 5 ridges to the 15mm Phil

    Fruit knife....

To those interested in these knife kits. I was so impressed with the finished article I sent an order in for twenty kits to Craft Supplies USA on Tuesday, they arrived today. The landed price is £6.90 each all inclusive. I want to make a few, so will keep four, but if anyone is interested in...

Kaspersky cust service poor suggestions for alternatives pls

Depends on the operating system. AVG 2014 can cause issues with XP, MS Security essentials is no longer supported on XP, For win 7 MS SE is fine for most users, those who want full cover, we use Norton Internet Security, 360 is a nightmare on most machines, real bloat ware. ESET is coming up...

After seeing what you have created, you have inspired me. I think I will pop in and pick up a couple, not matched and see if I can get a deal. I was also wanting to try a gavel as well. Will post when I've had a go. Phil

What tool/piece(s) of Machinery changed your woodworking?

Been hobby wood working and general DIY for 40 years and only in the last six months bought a 12" Delta bandsaw. I really don't know how I did much of my cutting, straight or shaped all that time. It's now my go to saw for all materials with the correct Tuff saw blade. Good question. Phil

    Windows XP to 7 Advice

Setting up live mail and importing is certainly an option if you have a large filing system, although we tend to find downloading and installing, then importing to live mail takes longer than just doing the transfer and importing the store folder, accounts and contacts. If supplying a new...

    Windows XP to 7 Advice

Live mail is nothing to do with hotmail. It's just a mail client like outlook or outlook express. I am currently transferring five or six machines daily from XP to Win 7, either as upgrades or replacements. Mail from Outlook Express to Live mail is fairly simple if you backup the store folder...

    Problem with IE 11

I don't believe it is possible to remove IE completely. It should be in start, all programmes, in the list at the top. If so right click it an choose pin to task bar. If not in the list, start, right click computer, open, expand c drive to programmefilesx86, internet explorer, in there right...

    Problem with IE 11

Lots of problems with IE11, but never had an issue on anyone's machine with IE10. Just remove it and you will revert to IE10. Control panel, programmes and features, installed updates in top left, wait for it to fill up. In search box top right, type 'int' and internet explorer will be left...

Ambitions too great for pocket and bravery?

Bin them and save yourself an injury. Go to fleabay and pick up a couple of proper tools, even carbon steel would be a vast improvement. HSS if you can run to it. Phil

March Challenge - PLEASE POST YOUR ENTRIES HERE

One of the hardest challenges I have attempted so far. I decided upon a box, but also to incorporate segmentation using Walnut and sycamore. Tools used, skey, parting tool small spindle gouge. I started with a 50mm x 50mm x100mm of each wood and cut off 7mm thick slices lengthways from both...

    Swept back bowl gouges

That's soooo well put, that's where I am, enjoying the hobby and finding a reason for owning the tools I just bought on impulse or because I liked the look of them. Whilst they sometimes help a little in doing a specific job, a cheaper solution could be found if I didn't have them, it's just...
