    How would you?

At least you have a decent shoulder to guide the Japanese saw against. Should be an easy removal, but I can see the feet falling apart in two when removed. The split running up through should allow for a good rough split pattern to glue and rejoin without showing.

    Nice Ebay site

My thoughts exactly. Lovely bit of kit.

    Childrens Play Centre Build Thread

I like that sort of templating. I use it often, and it makes the job so much easier and accurate. Well worth the effort to plan it out and make the jigs/templates. Also, never underestimate the value of a simple length of building line to keep things perfectly aligned. I’m loving this WIP

    Glue syringes?

Whilst you’re there, ask for one or two used sets of single use tweezers. My nurse said they go straight into the sharps bin after use, and gave me four pairs out the drawer. They’re stainless steel and really thin nosed, perfect for fiddly jobs in the workshop.

    deeper storage?

Thanks, the last thing I wanted was protruding handles that I’d knock into constantly. These were 45mm round flush at 30p each off eBay. Made a block jig for the pillar drill and they were easy to drill in the right place without measuring.

    deeper storage?

I built the same setup in the making of my current workshop 18 months ago. These are built from B&Q carcasse, full extension slides. The carcasses are rock solid and take all the weight in the drawers and used as a working bench. Drawers are made from 9mm ply sides, 6mm ply base let into...

    Flooring question?

It’s my escape room 😉 I can spend hours in there quite happily. Internal dimension is 3.8m wide, 7.4m long. I then put a separate room at the rear through the door with the dust extractor (piped throughout the workshop), sink, compressor and welding bench. The best thing was the 50 drawer...

A garden project for my better half.

I’d definitely use them again. They’ll never rot like timber support posts, bolt to the joists with 50mm x 10mm hex head carriage screws, driven in with an impact driver, and don’t cost a fortune.

    Emulsion paint

Id wanted to use Dulux trade diamond satin to paint spindles and rails on the stairs. They have been brown for the last twenty years , we moved in two years ago and missed decorating them last year due do a clubhouse refurbishment. id orders the dulux diamond from Wickes At £45 (-10%trade) went...

    Postcrete for a step

I used it for pothole repair in a bridle lathe used for vehicles for three houses. Cars are over it too often for normal concrete, an nobody wanted to spend the money for proper repairs as none of the houses owned the lane. I used to use a couple of bags in the potholes, and several months of...

I see the Ferrex bandsaw is back in stock at £149.99 online.

A garden project for my better half.

That’s why I added a cross piece to the bottom, probably overkill, but they ain’t going up nor down now. As for level, I make the holes, fix the brackets to the main span timbers in the correct places to drop in the holes. When the frame is offerde into place with the brackets attached, it is...

A garden project for my better half.

The supports are steel concreted in deck supports from Amazon here although I welded on another 150mm of rebar steel with a cross piece on the bottom. rest f the deck boards finally arrived in December, having been ordered in June. fortunately December was mild so I was able to get them all...

£230 spent once, cry once, and know that ain’t going to burn your barn down. No sleepless nights. Priceless.

    Concrete Shed Base Problems

Agreed, two courses laid by a brickie will see the perimeter spot on level. if you’ve already got DPM in the construction, float the floor with a screed or levelling compound depending on what you are going to use it for.

    Level or to the floor?

No, as long as you don’t walk along it too much doing a single job. Using each point on a bench you’lll find certain things are actually more comfortable a little higher or lower. Put those tasks at height proffered positions. I had Sorby pro edge sharpener on the left (high floor side), bench...

    Level or to the floor?

The bench has to be level. I had the same in my last workshop, 100mm over 5m of fall. I built the benches and shelves level, done to the slope of the floor would have been just wrong. After a couple of years, I got round to putting in a false floor, absolutely level. Only took a weekend, so...

    Flooring question?

You’ll be fine. My workshop has exactly that, 22mm chipboard on 50mm celotex. T&G glued with D4. Membrane between chip and celotex. I have a Jet 3520b lathe, 340kg, plus 60kg of blanks stacked on it. No problem and lathe is solid. The floor ain’t going anywhere. The centre island workbench is...

    Crazy world

HP instant ink. £1.99 a month pays for 50 pages. A page can be a document with text or a full page full colour photo. A4 photo print at 4p a print is pretty decent. Any unused pages get carried forward to the following month. If you build up too many pages, drop the subscription to 99p a month...
