    Yandles Delivery

As it's only 20 miles away, I go there in person, saves me the £6.95 carriage. :D But of course, as I'm there I can't just pick up the item I went for, I have a good look around and then spend another £100 plus on things I didn't realise I needed, and as I'm not at home waiting for the...

    HMRC Emails

See two or three of the locky infections a week at the moment, every document, picture and music file locked. Only way forward is to totally wipe the hard drive and start again. Make sure you keep a backup of all important files on an external device. The cost to allegedly unlock the files is...

    Log Splitter anyone...?

I have used that same model for 7 years on green wood, well seasoned sycamore, ash and beech. They are particularly good for knotty wood. I have added a knife at the user end as well instead of the flat ram, there is nothing it wont split. The largest diameter I have split is 36" wide, 12" long...

    I hate electrics

Have you tried a shielded cable for the monitor? Stops interference. Phil

    wood lathe problems

More likely to be the head stock seized than the tail stock. Does the spindle rotate freely when the belt tension is removed? Phil

    Dust masks

I use 3m 7500 with 2135 filters for sanding of any dusty job, and a Axi power cap for turning for face protection as well. Phil

    help!

I would jump at the chance to own this for £470. It's definitely 165kg, my 16" Jet one is 130kg. Chalk and cheese between this and a 250mm one of any make. Phil

Itech 01332 table saw, good bit of kit.

Super review thanks. Am looking into 10" table saws at the mo, so this has just stopped me in my tracks as I was looking at the record and Axi units, both over the grand mark. It's only for hobby use coming up to retirement, but I do like solid machines as I'm buying what I hope will be my final...

    Getting there.

Well done on the build so far. Exciting times. Keep us posted as your workshop comes together. Phil

    Lathe mounting

Looks a really substantial bench, nicely constructed. What is going top made from, as it will need to be strong and thick enough to bold the lathe to or have support blocks underneath to bolt the lathe to. More pics as you set it all up? I see there were several CL4's awaiting pickup in the...

hot melt glue guns - bulk offer

Don't use 11mm black polymer in a 12mm gun, they definitely blow hot glue back past the input end due to lower viscosity. A real mess to clean out as it involves taking the gun apart when hot. Translucent work OK as the hot glue is thicker. We use about 50 sticks a week, so not industrial, but...

    compressors... what to get?

Looks a decent unit for the money. £354 delivered from one Amazon seller, looks a bargain. Phil

hot melt glue guns - bulk offer

Black is used as T-M suggests for its properties rather than its colour. (Although sometimes black is better when it is used as a filler/repair) The main use is in the repair of black plastic chassis and laptop plastics after impact damage/abuse. The black sticks are less viscous so can embed...

hot melt glue guns - bulk offer

Hmm, it was two Stanley Gr100's that failed one after the other neither lasted more than six months. Going to go for the Tec 810 this time. See how long that lasts. We do use black glue sticks instead of clear, these do set harder in the gun and are slightly runnier when hot, so is probably...

hot melt glue guns - bulk offer

I have two of these Bosch, one at home, one in the workshop at work, neither work. One failed on the non return valve on the tip, new tips are too dear to keep replacing, other leaks glue back out past input end. Really disappointed after the good reviews. I bought them to replace a heavy duty...

    What tree/shrub please?

Leaves look too spiky for field maple, more like Norway Maple (Acer platanoides), still in the same family as Sycamore. It's only a 'scab tree' as our local tree inspector calls them, so dig it out and use the space for something productive. Phil

    Email Problem

See you there Saturday, can have a look if you are still stuck, I run a 6 bay computer repair workshop and retail shop. Who else is going to Yandles on Saturday? Phil

Unusual project: An indoor "cabin". Which wood shall I use?

Perfectly suitable, I would use the cheapest, thinnest, water based fence treatment from any of the big shed DIY stores. Then even dilute it some before use. It doesn't do much good outdoors, long live Creosote (get Brexit out the way and we may be allowed to use it again at home), but would...

    Something for the range

Had a request for a couple of pens made from empty shell casings, so made these two from once fired .308 rifle shells. Started off life as slim line kits and modified to fit. Phil
