Travelling to the US - what would you buy

By the time you’ve paid import duties and vat, most savings will be wiped out. Gone are the days of getting anything past customers with every suitcase being scanned these days. back in the 90’s I brought back a Celestron telecope, paid $1000 dollars there, was £2000 here. With a $50 pelican...

Jet washers that can suck from tanks - recommendations?

I have a four year old Karcher K7, decent enough bit of kit and I use it from a 20l plastic Jerry can for remote jobs. It’ll work off a standard garden butt as well as mains hose. K5 does as well.

What's the biggest mistake you have made in your woodworking

Asking the missus if she wanted a summerhouse in the unused corner of the garden. Thinking a 3mx3m ‘shed’ type structure. Yes, says she, and started describing something akin to a pavilion. Ended up as this. 7mx4m plus decking for a BBQ! I’ve learned not to offer in future.

Advice on how to remove "sharpie" writing on a guitar case please?

Can’t see in the thread you tried Isopropyl Alcohol. That’s a definite marker pen remover.

    Remote Control/Dust Extractor

Its not the switch thats at fault if its the inrush current tripping it. I had this with my Jet dust extractor, tripped every other time or so. I upgraded the circuit breaker (assume a breaker not a fuse?) to a 'C' curve instead of a 'B' and never had a problem since. You might like to check...

    new workshop

Your construction almost mirrors mine, just I have also got fireline plasterboard on the OSB internally and Hardie Plank cladding instead of timber (building regs due to location). I too heard nothing of the storm raging outside when in it, and no noise escapes either to the environment or...

    Worktop Material?

I have used Howdens solid core fire door blanks, edged with their mahogany lipping. Three coats of water based varnish and they are great for working on. No distortion, perfectly flat and really solid feel.

    16mm SWA bare or conduit

Agree with okey-dokey, leave an empty conduit in the trench with a couple of draw strings. SWA buried to the correct depth in a non hostile environment isnt going to be a problem. if it gets broken by digger or whatever, the conduit isn’t going to save it.

    Another Axe to grind.

It’s actually an American TRUE-TEMPER number R2S half hatchet camping survival axe, or a True Temper carpenters axe, depending on size. The camping axe is slightly smaller.

I thought holes went in very first thing and then turn around the hole so it is the centre of the finished piece, not after roughing.
