    Disc/Belt or Combined sander

I use the Record 6” belt/10” disc combo unit http://www.yandles.co.uk/record-power-b ... 240v/p8204 A good sold machine, used most every time I’m in the workshop. The only change I made was to add Velcro to the disc to make sanding disc replacement easier. It’s a bit noisier than I anticipated...

Thanks, confused now, these blades are listed at £22 and disposable, not resharpenable https://www.woodfordtooling.com/metabo- ... m1051.html Thanks custard, this will be a step up from my hand planning, which whilst not perfect, is really slow. Phil

    thicknesser choice, down to two

I’m just about to lay down £380 on a Metabo DH330 thicknesser after lots of research. http://www.dm-tools.co.uk/product.php/s ... ln-Pkx2u70 It’s only for hobby use, a bit of segmented turning, reclaiming wood, and making stock to my own sizes for boxes etc. I've also looked, at the Jet...

    Lathe Tool sharpening sytems

By the time you’ve added jigs (if you use them) the slow speed grinders aren’t really that much cheaper. I went the stone route, wished I’d never done it. The real problem comes when you want to reshape, then sharpen. Easy with Proedge, the grits are too fine for reshaping with white, and they...

    Lathe Tool sharpening sytems

I had the t7 tormek, sold it and bought the full Proedge kit. The t7 gouge jigs work on the Pro edge. I love it, would never go back to a wheel system. You don’t want/need hollow grinds on turning tools. I use it for normal chisels and plane blades, mower blades, axes, literally anything...

    Sharp recipe book

Hooray!!!!!!!!! Not the same book, but, after putting a search in ebay, I came with this one https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/222762313550 ... Tags=bu=bu which WAS the identical one, emailed the seller and he added a picture of the recipe on page 118 to the listing. So, after much hunting I...

Thanks for al the replies and the effort to help. I’ve passed the recipe on, we’ll see how it turns out. I will contact Sharp, didn't think of that avenue. The archive library one is close, but unfortunaly no cigar. Thanks for the link though. Love this forum. Phil

    Sharp recipe book

Hi all The missus had a clear out this year and has 'tidied away' a cookery book which has a Christmas pudding recipe she has made for over 20 years. Do any of you happen to have this cookbook in the kitchen? Its the Sharp carousel cook book from 1991 and I have a picture of the front. I only...

Thanks all. FFX did have a special on, the saw, 2 rails, joiners and rail case for £479. Also picked up the clamps and a 28t blade. Nuts were at £526, I like local, but £50 is £50 and paid for the clamps and blade. Phil

Jet jwbs-16x Any good, worth changing mine?

I had this choice to make 18 months ago. Fortunately I live near enough to both Axminster and Yandles to go have a play with both. There is no question the Jet is of a better build quality, the fence clamping mechanism is twice that over the Record. The triangular frame makes for a really rigid...

    is my workshop haunted?

Can't cut mine as they only start off 2 1/2 inch long in the first place, Argos and Screwfix simply refuse to put long ones in the racks at the order desks. Damn cheapskates. :D Phil
