Spray kit recommendations ( walls and cabinets )

I’ve just finished redecorating a large 4 bed where all the ceilings were plastered over artex. All ceilings mist coated, then three coats neat emulsion, every wall white emulsioned before final 2 top coats of coloured. This using the Graco GXFF. A superb piece of kit, 12x25ft ceiling, mist coat...

Post a photo of the last thing you made

The metalwork is from a dismantled crate from B&M, all in routed grooves on the top, base and corners. The grooves in base and top are then filled with coloured resin to give a nice finish, strengthening the structure and eliminating dirt traps.

Table saws, riving knives, and how to trench cut

The Bosch GTS 10XC also has a riving knife that drops low enough to allow grooving cuts. The saw is pretty damned accurate as well when using decent baldes. I only use Freud blades in mine and find it a superb workshop table saw. It sits on a wheeled trolley and brought out when in use, stowed...

Post a photo of the last thing you made

A project for a friend. He has a Bull Terrier which is a great dog, but prone to chewing the furniture when left alone. They use a wire crate but it looks kinda naff if the living room and wanted a more ‘furniture‘ looking version. This is my take on a solid oak dog crate. Water proof liner...

"Parts near End of Life" message

You can download the resetting tool for that message. the message is more time based than actual state of the ink pad. My Epsom was in service daily in the computer shop for over 12 years and was reset several times with the re setter. I have it somewhere if you can’t find it. Pm me if you need it.

    Cheap Scarifier?

Unless the turf is new, cut very short, and your soil is very light and perfectly flat, don’t bother with a hired turf cutter. Absolute waste of time. Really hard work for an hour to achieve such a patchy result that took further two hours to clean up manually. I’d have been better off hiring a...

Flat top grooving/slotting circular saw blàde?

I had 50 drawers to make using the 1/4 1/4 1/4 method. on my 10” table saw I used the CMT 160 mm flat top grind blade. You only use a small depth, so 150mm is fine. it enabled me to channel all 50 drawers sides for corner joints, and the groove for the drawer base in one afternoon. Perfect for...

New workshop build on pier foundations

Couple of points When putting in for my workshop planning permission I was advised by planning officer to call it a hobby room. Somehow it evokes less concerns from neighbours, so ‘hobby room’ was applied for and granted with no comments from neighbours. The membrane you’re about to lay on the...

    Securing Mortice & Tenon joints

My Dewalt sliding mitre was can’t do trenching as the slides are enclosed in the saw head, and the saw head pivots, not sliding on twofixed parallel bars as most saws do. When making a sliding cut, there is no movement that is parallel to the saw base, except full depth for cut through.

Travelling to the US - what would you buy

It's been scanned before it gets to the carousel, every bag from every plane is scanned. Anything suspicious is flagged and you get pulled through customs.

Thickness planer or thicknesser and planer ?

I too run the 2012NB, the 240v version after selling a combined unit that was just too much faff to change over from one to the other. It also took up far too much room. The 2012 lives under the benc and just gets put on top when used. Rarely get snipe, it’s powerful and accurate adjustments...
