SOLD***Jet DC1100 dust and chip collector **SOLD

Selling my Jet DC1100 dust collector. I used it with a fixed ducted installation in my last workshop and it was intended to use it in my new build. However, the layout I have means this will not fit in the planned setup. It is a very powerful unit with either a single 6” inlet or twin 4”...

DBT85s Workshop - Moved in and now time to fit it out

Knew it had been done in the past when I had the chance of one, but seemed not as simple as I thought. Full details here unless I passed up on this saw needlessly? That’s a great possibility if it was that simple.

DBT85s Workshop - Moved in and now time to fit it out

All three phase is 415v. You can get an inverter to run one or more three phase machines off a 240v supply. So the fact it’s 415v shouldn’t put you off. The Startrite is only 240v if run through the VFD as three phase motor will be a 415v motor. edited to correct autocorrect.

    Dual hoover dust extractor

The reason you won’t find much on you tube is because it’s a bad idea, period. They will fight each other, not double the extraction as per your thinking. You won’t find a commercially made setup with two vacuums and a Y piece.

    Build a shed Mike's way

I had that dilemma, I went with Hardie Plank cement based boards that look like painted timber cladding. The twenty plus colours have a fifteen year life before even considering any maintenance at all. That assumes you will have access for one day to actually fit the boards. I was at least able...

DBT85s Workshop - Moved in and now time to fit it out

Looking real good. Nice to be able to do the work inside now without worrying about the weather. You can start to get the feel of the place and what is going to work. 👏👏

Who's got the quietest compressor? (currently available)

Some compressors are nigh silent, but you’ll pay a very large premium for them and the air delivery will be restricted. If it’s for air brush or similar low usage then a Bambi is your go to. If you want large capacity, make sure you get a belt driven model. I used to use a 24l direct drive and...

    What CNC machine to buy

Machines like Xcarve and WorkBee come as a kit and take 10-12 hours of build time. The massive advantage of that is that you not only know how they work as a complex suite of components, you are more likely to be able to sort out why things perhaps don‘t work as you expected or when things go...

My cladding is only 8mm thick, and not tapered. This is how mine worked, over hangs, across the lining and up behind the cladding for an inch or so. Mike’s pictures above show an easy way to make one without ripping anything you’ve built apart. A piece of DPC would form a riser behind cladding.

    thicknesser choice, down to two

Forgot to update, I did spend the extra with FFX and went with the Makita. Forgotten about the extra expense a long time ago and think it’s a superb piece of kit. Perfect for everything I’ve thrown at it.

DBT85s Workshop - Moved in and now time to fit it out

this shows the principal of the drip cap. Once you have a pattern for your angle at the gable, cut one end. With an angled off cut you can work out the point of intercept with the gable each side. Measure between those two points and you have your length at the longest point when set with the...

DBT85s Workshop - Moved in and now time to fit it out

I’ve put a drip strip over my doors. It extends over the door, on top the lining, and up behind the cladding In one single piece. All water is directed over the door and can’t track back under, which is what will happen with your temp piece pictured. I guess you could make similar with a piece...

    Blum runner repair

As it’s not a critical, life dependant item, if it can’t be removed for cleaning properly use spray grease after flushing with WD40. It will lubricate it perfectly and any plaster dust remaining will eventually grind itself to a powder with use.
