    Axminster TS250-2 modifications.

My conversion of the Axminster crown guard shown previously wasn’t very good, mainly due to the extraction point being at the wrong place and the airflow being too small. After forgetting to close the front of my overalls and filling them up with dust after a ripping session something had to be...

Very useful guide, thanks. One question that has always puzzled me is why circular saw blades are sold by the number of teeth and not TPI? A 200mm blade with 80 teeth will be finer than a 300mm blade with up 80 teeth so wouldn’t TPI be better? Richard

What, like some personalised rubber gloves :D Seriously though, if she doesn’t want anything else make her something personal to show you care.

    Bandsaw recommendations please?

No but these will with a bit of cutting of the bandsaw. There’s a thread describing the process which I don’t have to hand at the mo. https://www.axminster.co.uk/axminster-hbs350n-blade-guide-set-102273

    Missing photos from Archive posts

Thanks for the info, I missed the previous thread on picture hosting. Personally I think the only long term solution is to only upload pictures to the forum and accept the lower resolution as all external sites will go down or start charging at some point. Flickr being a case in point. Perhaps...

    Missing photos from Archive posts

This forum has such a wealth of information in its archive but is being spoilt by the number of images, diagrams etc. that were hosted on Photobucket and other hosting sites that no longer allow free embedding so display a very low res image or no image at all. Has anyone found an easy way to...

Adjustable leg movable workbench on a sloped floor

All garages should have an slope towards the door to drain water from a wet car. It’s normally in one plane only, so nothing to do with being build on a hill or incline. My workshop is in a garage and I just ignore the slope, you just have to remember you can’t use a spirit level to build...

Straightening Vise Handle - or replacement.

Seconded, that makes perfect sense. If you can’t lock the vice you may be able to get a helper to put a suitable sized pipe over one end, get the bend next to the boss and then use another pipe at the other to straighten it. Even better if you have access to some heat or a body builder :D

    Record DX4000 Silence Cabinet

Just to finish this off, I solved extending the port out the front by using advice given and sliced the hose coupler down the side, removed about 4mm and then solvent welded back together. I found a bit of 100mm ducting that you can buy from screwfix/tool station that mated the reduced hose...

    Is this chisel worth saving?

Yes, first time I’ve used a spokeshave. I did find it quite hard to set the depth, it seemed to go from doing nothing to cutting too much with a very minor adjustment. It was also quite fiddly to sharpen due to the small blade and I did the standard 25 degree, 30 degree hone but wonder whether...

    B and Q Plywood

B&Q sheet is very poor from my experience, I only buy it when I’m desperate or it’s for something unimportant. I did buy some 9mm hardwood ply from them to use underneath some vinyl floor and the double sided tape I used pulled off the outer finish layer which was so thin they must have sprayed...

    Is this chisel worth saving?

Sharpened up the spoke shave and spent a pleasant hour or so fixing the handle. Had to cut more off the old handle than expected but it had split quite badly. Just need to give it a coat of something?

    Axminster TS250-2 modifications.

My Ts250 came with a sub fence so you can adjust where it finishes, it’s slightly too long in my opinion as it finishes at the end of the riving knife, so I have mine pulled forward so it sticks out the front and finishes just after the centre of the blade, probably should cut a chunk off it...

    3 in 1 sack barrows

That looks interesting, although it probably doesn’t work so well has a standard sack barrow when pushing?
  19. R

    3 in 1 sack barrows

Yes, looked good for the garden but not so good for heavy items on the ground, I was thinking a sack barrow allows you to get underneath without having to lift (just tip) and then move it. Richard

    Axminster TS250-2 modifications.

Pike, Give Axminster a call and see how much the extended fence and rear track is from the table saw extension, they’re normally very good for spares. I find my fence is rock solid with the bearing running in the rear track. Richard Ps. I should be able to find the instructions if you want me...
