    Ventilating a 1 1/2 story house.

Let’s see some figures, this is an interesting and important topic which will effect people more and more in the coming years. I’ve tried to draw on the graph in blue an estimated internal house temperature assuming some insulation during the day and some cooling at night but a I suspect most...

    Ventilating a 1 1/2 story house.

You can also use Wundeground to get actual readings from a site nearby. Here’s one in Bradford. Personal Weather Station Dashboard | Weather Underground And the temp graphs. So looking at those with good thermal management (minimising daily heat, maximising even cool) with good insulation I...

    Cfitbeats.com

For info I reported it to Axminster, they confirmed it shouldn’t be selling its products so they’re either stolen, fake or none existent. They’ll be reporting / taking action.

    Compressor tyre inflators

Thanks for the info and ideas, I’ve cut off the current connector and ordered a PCL version to fit the hose for £10. Hopefully that will improve things. I’ll report back.

    Compressor tyre inflators

And that’s the problem, are any of them any better than what I already have?

    Cfitbeats.com

Definately a fake site, I don’t believe Axminster sells through third parties.

    Compressor tyre inflators

I have a tyre inflator as shown but it’s almost impossible to seal against the valve and I end up letting most of the air out before finding a position where the seal is good enough so I can get more air in than it lets out. Looking in the end there doesn’t appear to be much if any rubber seal...

Electricity pole - Cutting, splitting and using an old pole to make posts

Cut them to length and use as is or find something else. Even cutting them to length can be a horrid process although to be fair not all poles seem to have soaked up the same amount of preservative.

    Mate o planer advice please

I presume you mean Metabo…. The newer versions have an aluminium table not sure about the older models but I think they may have been pressed steel? I have one and it’s OK but only just OK. I would try and find something used with the cast tables for £700 even if it’s one of the Axminster Hobby...

    Consumer Units For Workshop

Totally agree plus I believe the consumer must be all metal construction to meet current regs so don’t go and buy a bargain abs unit, any decent electrician will refuse to fit it.

You've got £600 for a new mitre saw...

Note that there are 2 versions of the Makita, one with laser and one without, so make sure it’s the model you want.

You've got £600 for a new mitre saw...

I had a demo of the LS1019 and was impressed, dust extraction was certainly better than my Bosch GCM 8 SJL which itself was a big improvement over the Evolution I still have. The front facing rails are a massive space saving and it seemed good value. The cut repeatability was spot on when moving...

Priming a briquette press hydraulic system.

On a log splitter I use you have to loosen off a nipple and then run the pump until no bubbles come out but that’s in the instructions.

    New bandsaw...decision made

Also here’s where the blade sits on the table. and the distance at the rear of the blade adjuster, sorry bit blurred. edit: meant to say that the rear guide adjustment seems to have two nuts locked together to limit how far the guide can move forward, this may just need tweaking? Hard to see...

    New bandsaw...decision made

I’ve found RP support to be good so recommend giving them a ring. However here are some pictures of mine which may be useful for reference. Distant from the rear 12mm blade to guide housing is 53mm. where blade is sitting on the top wheel. Distance between the guide block and the frame...

    New bandsaw...decision made

I’ve never been convinced with this guy’s philosophy of having the teeth (or was it the gullet, can’t remember?) of the blade running in the centre of the wheel. I tried this on my saw and left it tensioned overnight and it left marks in the tyres. This makes me think that it will a) damage the...

    New bandsaw...decision made

I‘ve just checked mine. Bearing is 22mm so same as yours. However, blade sitting in the middle of the top wheel also sits pretty much in the middle of the bottom wheel but I seem to remember having a tweak of the lower wheel adjustment to get this. But in general my blades do sit further forward...

    Strengthening spongy wood

I’ve never tried turning it but Ronseal wet rot hardener has done miracles on wood repairs that I thought were beyond recovery.

    Wand

Nice, how did you get the unicorn hair down the middle or am I mis remembering Harry Potter? Turning something long and thin like that isn’t easy so good job(y)

    New bandsaw...decision made

You can do it on your own, lay the bandsaw down on its back on a couple of blocks, bolt the stand on and then lift it up from the bandsaw end, half the weight. Obviously much easier with some extra muscle of course.
