Siberian Larch - Garage door Help.

Another option is to consider the Hormann "open for infill" up and over doors. You basically get a robust galvanised frame and then clad in a style and wood to suit your tastes. Create Your Own Timber Garage Door | Bespoke Hormann Timber Garage Doors Online UK

    Mitre saw blade

It's fine, I replaced mine with a standard blade and the quality of cut improved dramatically. I seem to remember struggling to fine one with the with correct size bore so also had to buy a bush adapter.

    White marks on oak

You have to very careful with modern "solid oak furniture", they use a solid engineered oak core made up of loads of bits stuck together, then they veneer with oak to make it look nice. They can sell it as solid oak without contravention of any sales of goods act.

    Workshop Ceiling Query

Too be honest if you want to class the space above as living space then for peace of mind I would treat it as an integral garage and would suggest insulation and a fire-boarded ceiling.

    Metabo Bandsaw 316

You're doing exactly the right thing but expect the heat to have more impact than the cooling. I had a bearing fitted some years ago and they used a temperature controlled hotplate for the bearing, the temperature is specified by the manufacturer, just dropped on once heated to 180C IIRC. If...

    Budget lathes

I can't comment on that specific lathe but also keep an eye out for the old blue record 2 bar lathes. I have the CL3 variant and it's been a great starter lathe, after 18 months I've only now started to find some of it's limitations but they're not bad enough to warrant upgrading at the moment...

    SC3 jaw carriers

The speed of changing is only one benefit of having multiple carriers, the other is not being able to drop one of the screws whilst changing, normally into a pile of sawdust or even better rolling underneath the lathe....

    SC3 jaw carriers

I must admit I hadn't realised that was the case on none Axminster chucks, I just presumed all the jaw carriers just wound out! Make me think the Axminster price premium is worth every penny.

    Perscription safety glasses

One thing to watch out for at the opticians is VAT, safety specs should be VAT free in the UK but some opticians just add it on anyway....

    Low Cost Lathe Upgrade

Bolt it to the floor!! Despite the manual saying to bolt my old Record CL3 and stand to the ground it was easier just to add 4 paving slabs as ballast. However as my confidence has grown I've started to turn more uneven lumps of wood which resulted in a brown trouser moment when the last lump...

    Perscription safety glasses

I've worn them for years, the early pairs tended to be heavy framed glasses with clear triangle sides added to help stop debris. As my eyes have aged I now wear vari-focal safety glasses which again work really well. My latest pair are from Norville and are a wraparound style which are much...

    Makita Drill, 2 x 5Ah Batteries, Charger, £150

I wasn't too worried about the drill, the 2 batteries and charger are worth £150 on their own.

    Lathe cleanup advice

I think you have to accept that turning generates a lot of waste and be prepared to clean up afterwards, just try and make the area as easy as possible to sweep up. You could try and capture the shavings but you'll need a HVLP type extractor, that numatic will fill its bag in minutes. The only...

Post a photo of the last thing you made

Elm bowl 200mm diameter. Rough turned wet, dried and then finished using Satin Treatex. Biggest learning point was to wet turn the mounting spigot as large as will fit it the jaws as by the time it had dried the resulting turned round spigot was only just gripped by the jaws and led to a rather...

    Log burner flue issue

And I can confirm that, I cut down a huge one in my garden, took ages and I got fed up so thought, I'll split it next year. My axe almost bounced off...I borrowed a 5 ton log splitter, no joy, borrowed a 12 ton one from a local farmer and it tore apart rather than split.

    bosch gas 1200l professional

It was stuck on originally so I can't see a problem sticking it back on with some epoxy.

    Belated intro....

Welcome, your cupboards look great. I particularly like the one built to fit round the dividing wall, fills what would otherwise be a really awkward space.
