    levelling a Lurem Former 310

Well, someone who wants to do it is always a good starting point in my book. I dare say it would have been a spare part that wasn't a special order from Lurem and as you know they are no more. Cheers, Andy

    levelling a Lurem Former 310

I feel for you, that's not a happy sight to see, I hope that it's just the mounting that's damaged and not as you say, the cutter block. No idea if spares are available and unless you get the right person I think it's a really tricky repair. Do you know any engineers who could help you out? If...

    levelling a Lurem Former 310

Perhaps the fastenings that hold one side of the cutter block have worked loose and debris has worked its way under ? Cheers, Andy

    Business to business dealings

I'm not going into the extraordinary ins and outs of this situation I find myself in but will say thank you for your input regarding this matter, it's been helpful. Cheers, Andy

    Business to business dealings

It was less about me buying and selling and more about buying second hand work vehicle using my work account from a Ltd company and said vehicle failing shortly after. Is this classed as a business to business transaction? I ask because someone mooted the idea I possibly didn't count as a...

    Business to business dealings

Just wondering if you might have an informed answer please. Self employed sole trader with no staff and not Ltd. Am I affected by B2B transaction standards or not? Do I make it to the lofty status of Business? Cheers, Andy

Kitchen worktop - am I doing it right?

So to avoid any more erroneous speculation, can I ask if have you done a real cut and test fit joint to prove the jig and guide bush sizing are compatible? Did the mitre work absolutely perfectly? Cheers, Andy

Kitchen worktop - am I doing it right?

Just a note from experience with modern postformed worktops when doing 90 and angled cuts. The method of cutting INTO the vertical face of the laminate to prevent spelch out has not always been successful. Sometimes the bond between the postformed laminate and edge of the chipboard is hollow and...

Kitchen worktop - am I doing it right?

I'm think mine leaves less than that but not too much less. I usually cut off the waste after the first light pass. I know your just testing and probably obvious but in case you progress further in a similar fashion on the good stuff this shape should be on the long edge not the end Cheers, Andy

    Kitchen work top cutting

Ok, I'm just wondering if this has been thought through enough because blindly I envisage issues. First off the edging on the piece that butts up has a poor meeting with the surface laminate, it could be swelling and failing is it good enough in your eyes to warrant the work ? That same...

What might this be? ... I do know, but do you?

Lark lure is the one that trips of the tongue more easily. The larks are drawn to the flashing reflections from the reflective discs let into the timber. By the way this wasn't mine, my display was by the door , did we speak at all mc281 ?

What might this be? ... I do know, but do you?

Looks very much like a display of stuff at Carlton Scroop, was it? I know as well but won't spoil the quiz.... I will say "fatal attraction" though Cheers, Andy

    Unusual chisel grind?

Maybe technique and using poorly maintained stones which have gone hollow. Check the best face of the chisel for a decent flatness followed by a decent square grind as required. Cheers, Andy

    6th Vintage Hand Tool 'Extravaganza',13th April 2024

Good to see you again Doug and glad you liked the smalls, not always exhibited these days. Superb pictures, thank you. If I could bear to leave some of the other bigger bits out the one fruit box of smalls would have covered a whole table.... So glad I took the Kendall planemakers planes as a...

    What’s this anyone?

Have you seen the picture? The liquid we used to call "blackjack" was poured and rollered with no thickness to it, akin to paint. As for Bitumen this is the stuff you'll normally find under old parquet flooring, easily identifiable from asphalt as it fractures and splinters and gets...

    What’s this anyone?

I think it's most likely be asphalt, opening a can of worms there. I'd not be taking it up if possible. Cheers, Andy

    Building Bridges

Nice job summat to get your teeth into... Just as an observation I immediately noticed that the lattice work was the same in all four openings. I think I might have gone for two one way and two reversed for visual balance. Then again I've not drawn it out and it might look carp... Cheers, Andy
