Looking for an accurate drill press

You could use a flat bit the size of your dowel to drill into a fixed/located block of wood. This would position and keep the dowel still, directly under the required drill. Extra depth hole would allow you to probably do doubles with a longer drill or turning over. This is unless the drill is...

No longer available, Fresh cut Plum tree, any good for ought?

Ok, so it's probably best if someone pops over to him and has it to do something with. If you're near the M69 and can use a 12" diameter log or 2 shout up. Cheers Andy

    Guillotine

Judging by the scraps underneath it and the plumbing related context first off I'd say for cutting Zinc sheet closely followed by lead sheet. Absolutely wonderful bit of kit and lovely to see it. Please do your best to save it.... In the meantime I'll ask about. @TFrench Edit, just seen where...

    How Close To Edge?

My fix when things get crumbly/dodgy is to use dowling, drill hole to suit, cut dowels to length, score the dowels with teeth on hand saw, pump in enough 5min PU glue, dip dowel in water and insert. 10 min later, cut off flush. This is especially effective when fitting curtain pole mounts ( 3...

    How to bore/drill a 350mm long / 27 diamm hole

Looks like you could benefit from this method. It was a rough turn to achieve a cylinder and then used a lamp cable auger through the hollow tailstock. This gave me the centres for turning the finished roller followed by manually boring from both ends with another auger the right size. To guide...

    Long drill or extension needed

Sorry Tim, hadn't realised the explanation of how I did it is missing. It was a rough turn to achieve a cylinder and then used a lamp cable auger through the hollow tailstock. This gave me the centres for turning the finished roller followed by manually boring from both ends with another auger...

    Door Upgrade

I'd be more inclined to look at leaving as is and having a second skin on the inside. The character of the building is untouched and the new doors are protected by the old. Whatever happens something needs to be done with the guttering.... Cheers Andy

What a charming little thing that is. That wedge abutment style makes a nice change and allows for extra wedge embellishment. Cheers Andy

    Wadkin machine threads

I was chatting to Chris Adams at Adams Ironmongers the other day and he mentioned that he has an excessive amount of old style nuts and bolts which nobody seems to want anymore www.birmingham-mowerrepairs.co.uk Maybe worth a call for anything old-school. Cheers Andy
