Evo-Stik Adhesive Cleaner - okay with varnish?

I would think it'll wreak havoc with the finish. Although getting the guitar too hot is likely to be detrimental, gently heating up the glue may allow you to piggle it off. Cheers Andy

Bench.Talk.101 and the biography of James Krenov written by Brendan Gaffney

Not being into cabinet making in a big way I hadn't known a lot about James Krenov apart from the style of plane he made and used. The presentation by Brendan Gaffney was very enlightening to say the least and I dare say the biography would be a great for many with interest in the Krenov school...

    Forstner bits

Funny you should bring this up today. After last night's @benchmark.101 on the biography of James Krenov written by Brendan Gaffney, the after hours open chat brought forth 2 examples of sets of the earliest Forstner bits for use with hand braces. The earliest has a solid outer periphery and the...

Another sharpening jig and other odd tools

Hey folks, thanks for having a go. Andyt is there as they are brush shears. Dare say they would make short work of besom brooms but were more generally used on brushes with drilled stocks into which the bristles had been bonded, originally with bitumen. To dress them to length the stock is...

Another sharpening jig and other odd tools

Was once a thriving industry and I have personally met the last guy from Northamptonshire to be apprenticed in this trade. To be fair the bolt holes should be utilised to hold at 90° a distance gauge. Cheers Andy

DBT85s Workshop - Moved in and now time to fit it out

Is there a reason you didn't put a small roof above the doors? I'd have thought it would have had outstanding benefits in inclement weather. Cheers Andy

    Old Woodworking Tools

And just a note to say, in some cases the woodworm holes do not necessarily negate it's value, especially if it belongs to a tool with high value/ historic importance. Yes, some tools are that special. I was lucky enough to see your other pictures and would advise that even some of the roughest...

    Book on vices

As Andy says, any specific publications are likely to be thin on the ground to date. Not sure if you are a user of instagram but this chap in Texas is nuts on all heavy iron and often mentions vices and if perchance you like a bit of Anvil action, strap yourself in..... There is deffo a book on...

    Machining radius’s

With appropriate set up, sharp cutters and positive feed rate the spindle should do a wonderful job with little need for further surface treatment. It will be important to stay on top of cutter sharpness. If it's necessary to have a sanded finish you could look into doing it as one pass on a...

    Old Woodworking Tools

I can see your thinking but this blade is flat and a 5 wouldn't be wide enough. Unless there was a decent blacksmith in the area ?😉
