    Coachmakers tools

Following a recent conversation I'd be interested to know of anyone who has used "coachmakers rebate" planes for their intended purpose. Note how the side of the"open" mouth has a plate screwed across it. My theory is a groove is first ploughed in the work and then the rest of the waste removed...

A very nice item indeed  Here's the May 1909 Edward Preston Birmingham offerings. Note one is mortised through the head. Does it have any measurements on it? Cheers Andy

    Newbie Alert.

Bet your glad Bruntingthorpe didn't end up taking her in? I came to the party late but was very chuffed to be at Shuttleworth, for sadly, the last public display. Cheers Andy

    Valuable lesson learnt regarding laminating.

Lot of reasons why it wouldn't work but if feasible, how about kerfing (not through edges) the back and gluing in slips to force it back to flat. Laminate after. Cheers Andy

    Internet influenced vice purchase....

Yes, as @dannyr correctly assumes it's the locking wing nut for the swivel function. The odd looking one clockwise to it is seldom seen, it's a cobblers heel clamp. The bottom one goes back a long way for me being the first I bought. Can you see the spikes on the clamp ? Very effective, but not...
