    Rededa No. 2

It might take a bit of finding John but if you bear with me I'll have a look. In the meantime are you sure that the screw and half nut are not too worn to impair the use of the vice? You should be able to do the checks I've previously mentioned in this thread without your missing end piece...

MAC Timbers destroyed by devastating fire.

Yes, terrible for them. Have spoken to Mike and all of the timber built workshop and contents are totalled. All this after his upheaval from the old address and all it involved. I've offered to help with surplus tools but it's a workshop he needs most to work in. Cheers Andy

MAC Timbers destroyed by devastating fire.

It's horrible to have to inform you that Mike and Rene have had a fire which has burnt down the workshop and adjacent timber sheds. Both are safe and unharmed. It's just another setback for this wonderful couple who had fought to rebuild the business after a previous upheaval. All our thoughts...

    Help finding architrave

Why not do it at 18mm ? As long as there is room for the door furniture you have the added bonus of increasing fire resistance. Cheers Andy

    Help finding architrave

Don't forget that unless you move the architrave (if already in place) you'll have a greater margin on that side of the frame. Cheers Andy

FTAGH Spares / repairs - record 52.5 vice

Tom, just a note to say although in it's state with bits missing the components you have are far too good to be scrapped. The bars are excellent bits of steel for a metal worker and if in good condition the half nut and screw might put an otherwise defunct vice back into operation. I'd launch...

    Mystery hand cranked fretsaw?

Ah yes, unfortunately I don't do any fretwork to speak of, my aim is to collect and show the public the wonderful contrivances that are fast disappearing under the mountain of plastic tat that we consume today. Some may know of fretsaws but a hand cranked is beyond their imagination.... Cheers Andy

    Mystery hand cranked fretsaw?

Hello, recently I was very lucky to be gifted by Bill and Sarah Carter a hand cranked fretsaw. The only marking on it, apart from some wonderful pinstriping, is the word PATENT cast into the frame. I know it was previously purchased in France before finding it's way to England. The fact it says...
