Personally I think the way you are thinking of cutting the oak out is fraught with disaster as you are leaving the face too thin.
For me option A would be favourable but it depends on how tight for space you are?
If you are capable and want to "pinch an inch" option B would be about the limit of...

Yep, looks like the seals on the roof bars ain't stopping the water.
Rafters could be a bit further back from the edge of the roof as well.

My main point is that on top of relevant laws we as a consumer are generally left out of pocket in one way or another.
For example, order 13 expensive doors and find that neither the wholesalers or suppliers had found manufacturing faults (inside the wrapper)...
Because of the need to keep the crown cut on the top of the floor blocks, most of the splayed cuts were done with a Makita 18v circular saw with some hand cutting past the blade depth on through cuts.
Looks like I'm in line to make another 250 blocks shortly....

The shameful practice in today's market place of supplying anything unfit for purpose could quite easily be reversed if the supplier was made to offer compensation and refund all the costs involved.

This is quite a well constructed little table that doesn't feel flimsy like some of the cheaper modern alternatives.
The fence, in this instance, has been adapted to a straight through affair but could be altered.
The flip over safety cover is present but needs a couple of bolts that I cannot...
Very good condition compared to many out there (just 5/6 light drill holes) and possibly made by Murray Brothers who did the Nippy brand.
Fully adjustable to take out any slack on the slides.
£45 picked up from A5/M69 crossroads or dropped in if I'm passing.
