    LBC (Louis’) Shop tour!

It’s true! The first aid kit if far too boring so doesn’t get the attention it (probably) deserves haha!

    LBC (Louis’) Shop tour!

Yes tackling the extraction is the next upgrade. You can never just buy a machine. There’s always so much that needs updating along side it. Had it for a year now and blocked up maybe 3 or 4 times so I know it’s in the edge of what it can handle. Thankfully only Accoya currently which is nice...

Best PU glue for mastic guns

After a new supplier of PU! Currently use construction chemicals which is good but expensive. What’s everyone using? Ideally want a 10 minute & 30 minute option and ideally fit in a mastic gun. Cheers! Louis

    Moulding for Victorian door required

You have options. So starting with the cheapest, they are... Repair and refit existing moulding. Replace single length. Easy enough to do with a router, block plane and sand paper. No spindle moulder / cutter needed. Replace all mouldings. Louis

CNC'd MFT top, Parf guide or Trend jig?

Exactly the above. Some things it’s just better to outsource. Follow the money. Spend the time working on actual commissioned work. I’m sure I could keep myself busy all year round having “workshop days” but it’s little good if your not earning the squillah Louis

Rail and Stile router bit - combo or matched pair?

The only difference I can think of is that you may be limited in height using the combo compared to the matched pair. As a general rule you always machine the rail tenons first and then the stiles. But Painted oak doors with mdf panels? What made you chose that combo? Louis

    This price is OTT

I brought one of these - worth it’s weight in gold to me and pays for itself over and over. But the price does seem OTT A piece of rubber

    This price is OTT

As far as I can tell those items are not quite “like for like”. If you run the automatic blue tooth ID thing then that hose is worth every Penny. Imagine if every time you used a different tool you just plugged the hose in and that was it. I swap tools from hose and plug around 10 times a day...

    Choosing a New Dust Extractor

I would avoid Charnwood and I tech at all costs. They must be the “erbauer” or “triton” of dust extractors

    Not quite there

Never too late in life to learn but I have to say that even the basic apprenticeship is 3 years full time work in a professional joinery workshop and your still pretty green after that.... To a professional, it’s plain as day to spot someone who isn’t “time served”. Now that doesn’t mean there...

This is basically exactly what I do. brush on 1st coat, then use a rag to wipe the entire thing down.Very light sponge sand and then light brush on for second coat and leave.
