    I don’t want to build a workbench

I’ve built benches in the past and get no particular joy from it. I just want to use the damn thing to make something else. So recently brought the Axminster 1700 workbench with dog holes, vices, storage etc for £400 and couldn’t be happier. Great bit of kit

    Thinnest stock for Domino?

Domino 500 is the best of the two dominos IMO. Gets used loads more in my shop. Absolute game changer of a tool. The XL actually gets used for cutting in deadlocks, sashlocks and trickle vents these days!

    Wardrobe door doesn't close fully

Your problem is nowhere near as bad as your photo makes out. The other door is sunk in way too far for a start off. I’m frankly amazed you managed to make and install a set of doors which are very presentable without having any apparent knowledge of how to deal with hinges or stiles that don’t...

    Self employment

If I may be blunt, you sound like you believe the world owes you a decent living doing the work you want to do, from day one. I think you need to wake up and realise you don’t just suddenly start making kitchens because you like the idea and turn down anyone who won’t pay you £200 a day. You...

Is putting glued wood through a spindle moulder dangerous?

No probs putting glued products through a spindle just make sure they are glued well. Products like woodex are made up of glued laminated pieces and designed for making things such as windows etc.

    Fitting a Sliding Sash?

Sounds like they’ve provided you sash’s to fit into an existing frame. In that case, yes, they need to be trimmed and bevelled on site. The amount to remove from the bottom is governed by at which point the meeting rails sit flush. It can be quite a techy job for an amateur. Take too much off...

    Britain's Best Woodworker

I’m not saying that’s why he should go. I’m saying that’s what is currently letting him down. I don’t believe he does have ENOUGH natural ability to do it. I agree with comments of Britain’s best school project though 🤣

    Britain's Best Woodworker

The show is a bit lame in terms of woodwork for woodworkers. I mean, only one of them is actually qualifies with any real world experience. Radha is clearly going to win the series by a 100 yard mile. Billy should go. Can no one see that billy is an absolute chancer?? The kid has natural talent...

Best place to purchase t&g oak

Have a load of internal oak doors to make (ledged and braced) Is there anywhere I can purchase unfinished oak tounge and groove blanks? Obviously need to be nice and flat. I will be routering a decorative stop bead along the tongue before assembly. I can order and plane up the rails myself...

    Control unit

Can anyone direct me to the correct replacement control unit for my Sedgwick Morticer based on the image? Broke the darn thing by moving the machine. Its the classic Sedgwick Morticer. Have been quoted around £140.00 for a replacement switch but thought I'd ask here first. Louis

    UPVc Window Seals

I would personally go to a window manufacturer and ask if they can help. I would also get in touch with Reddiseals and ask them to send me a sample selection of Schlegel seals which they have done for me in the past (you may need to pay for postage). Louis

    attaching pergola to wall

Dovetail notches would be best. Stop them sliding out and would be difficult to achieve. Of course you’d have to mention it every time anyone paid even the slightest amount of interest. Louis

    Cost of Birch Ply

Consider “lightweight garnica poplar” as a cheap substitute. If it’s for cabinetry then that will be fine.

    Stable Door...

What the hell, where are you getting your prices from?? I pay £165 + Vat at Lathams. I am their golden boy though. The bloke in that video said £250!! Hopefully come down in price? Ha! wouldn't count on it. But I wouldn't be surprised if it stayed around £200+ VAT per sheet. Don't think people...
