Ok thanks. Can you recommend how to fill in any nicks or would you just leave it? They don't affect the performance i just wanted to tidy it up.

I believe they are a pressed aluminium. I just wanted to tidy it up and give it a wax to help pieces glide over it better.

Yes i agree about the stability. I know the edge band would look nice but what i would like to do is make some things for home and hopefully word will travel through family and friends, you never know what can happen. With the edge band i would be concerned with it causing problems further down...
