    Prostate Cancer Test

Just to clarify for anyone going for the biopsy, it is not that bad at all. A little uncomfortable during the process and in my case there was hardly any blood discharge in the week following, so don't be put off if you need to have this done. My results were clear but my PSA continues to rise...

    ChrisR Computer/Internet problems (split-from-new-bandsaw)

Hi Chris, Get someone n to sort this out for you. If I have problems, thankfully not often, I get an expert who can usually sort most things out within an hour. There is no call out fee and he charges £35 an hour and another guy who charges £40 per hour. It really is 'small beer' to avoid the...

    Foot Operated ON/OFF switch

I think it may be best to get used to the machine first and then consider if a footswitch would help you. If you are intending to cut very small pieces, I find that a wooden clamp is great. It stays flat on the table and keeps the work vertical, which sometimes is difficult by hand. I did have...

Why do we have a scroll saw section?

It's nice to search for different items of interest. If there was a Bandsaw section, I would still be looking at other sections as well, as scrollsaws and bandsaws still crop up in other sections. Malcolm

    Foot Operated ON/OFF switch

For what machine Don? Scrollsaw footswitches are fairly common but bigger machines may have a foot NVR switch? Malcolm

How level should a bandsaw table be?

Which model bandsaw have you bought? The important part is that the blade runs at exactly 90° from the table front to back and side to side. Getting the blade running true is the key and these videos may help you THE BEST FROM A BANDSAW 'Alex Snodgrass of Carter Industries has an excellent...

    Injet Transfer

When I retired 5 years ago, I had loads of files, plastic sleves etc and I also remembered some Transparency Film, which |I have just found and that may well do. I may also try to get lazer jet inking done as that's supposed to be one of the best. Fun trying new things. Thanks all for your...

    Injet Transfer

Thanks I've just looked that up, but buying Avery labels to strip them off and use the backing paper seems a waste. There may be other ideas about that would be as good or better?

    How to print on wood

OK for Lazer Jet printers, but what about inkjet printers? Is there a 'good' way to transfer?

Try and do the insides before you glue the back on. Don't take off too much or the drawers will be sloppy, but its far harder to do the sanding afterwards. Files also help is you dont have the bobbin sander, but a good blade and careful cutting should leave the insides reasonably smooth...

    bandsaw table square

I read somewhere that if very thin shims are needed, best to buy a set of feller guages and use them for the shims. Not very expensive and saves trying to find material thin enough. http://www.halfords.com/workshop-tools/ ... -16-blades

Those are first class and for your first effort are really superb. I love the wood composition, which can be a little more difficult to sand and get a good finish on, so do enough coats. The flocking may also be awkward as stripes sometimes show through once the flocking is done, depending on...
