Bandsaw box - Step by step help needed

Hi Adrian, I have the following stuck to my bandsaw .......... BANDSAW BOX CONSTRUCTION Select wood/s - glue & clamp together a selection of woods and allow 24 hours to set. Then select suitable blade to cut wood, possibly a 1/4" or 3/8" would do.. Cut off back of box and mark it as the back...

Things you wish you'd thought of yourself...

=D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> Excellent. Loads of wind getting nowhere.Rathewr surprised that the Scotts prefer to be ruled by Brussels and would probably have to have the Euro as currency. Hope you don't mind if I pinch the photo Eric! Malcolm

    Bandsaw upgrade - 12" to 14" or 16"?

In my opinion, Charnwood is not in the same league as Record. I have the BS400 and it has been superb. I even use it for lots of fine work with a 1/8" Tuffsaw blade a lot of the time but also use the Carter Stabilizer with that and the standard blade guides with larger blades and they work well...

    BS400 Bandsaw Upper Guide Question/Concern

It is my understanding that bandsaw guides are a fallback mechanism to catch the blade should something go wrong (too much unexpected pressure). In normal practice, the blade should not be in contact with the guides, so a little play should not be an issue. Please correct me if I am wrong...

    Timber storage

I also store my boards on edge - horizontally and have not had a problem. They were all dried boards and not raw timber, which I believe should be stored flat to prevent twisting and have spacers at regular intervals.

For those of us with MicroClene (Acrol Ltd) Air Filters...

I also have the MC760 and it's strung up above the workbench and does a really good job. When 'm working it's always on even though I agree, it's noisy.

    Another palm sander ...

Thanks for the info. Not worried about corners as I have the Bosch GDA 280 E with all the attachements and that gets me into the smallest areas, but its a bit 'wieldy' and a palm would be good as long as I can attach a vac rather than use the tiny box on it. Malcolm

    Another palm sander ...

From the look of it, the Bosch GEX 25 5" looks about right, as the filter box leaves a tube to fit a vac. Unless you think otherwise ??

    Beginner advice...

Hi Adrian, welcome to the forum. The answer to your question is really governed by what you intend making in the long term. I only started woodworking 3-4 years ago but still dont have a table saw, as I found the Bandsaw was sufficient for my needs, mainly making bandsaw boxes. A Scrollsaw is...

    Another palm sander ...

I have some sanders, but not a palm sander. The GDA 280E I have gets a bit heavy at times, particularly when there is some rough stock to clear. Holding by the handle doesn't seem as easy as holding with the hand /palm. I only need a 1/4 sheet one, but am confused by the 'Intec dust filter'...

That whiligigg would be something to see. You could add some gears and then sell them as being suitable for high winds. ...................... always looking for a marketing 'edge' Malcolm

Perhaps someone locally may be able to help you slice them up, if that would help. You can but ask? Malcolm
