    Reciprocating Saw

I need a present day reciprocating saw with wood and metal cutting. Need to take down a trellis with heavy nails and screws to cut through. Happy with corded rather than battery, unless advised otherwise? Not the top, pricy models but good reliable saw to deal with 4" x4" posts etc. Advice...

    Fencing/Trellis Demolition

Thanks Neil, that's a good suggestion and one which will possibly be taken up.particularly if I am doing this myself. The other brackets can be used to join posts togethrr for additional support. Pity the spikes are not 4 x 3 but suppose could fill the extra inch if using that size. Just that...

    Leather Belt Alterations

Thanks Glynne, I'm trying the same and have just e-mailled a belt maket in Birmingham. It is an unusual belt, not seen one like it before and since, but it may need all the three sections replacing with different two coloured leather. It's on;y 1" wide and may even think about buying a 1" two...

    Fencing/Trellis Demolition

Music Man & Phil.p Godfathers would not be an option astetically and space wise. As for the posts, I expect the posts have a lump of concete around the rotted base, which is why I am thinking of positioning another post, say a foot away and bringing that into the open rather than trying to place...

    Leather Belt Alterations

SWMBO has a lovely belt tyhat can be changed into several options of colour. Hsh had it many years ago and now it is too tight, but would like to have it enlarged. Does anyone know where this could be done please. The best option would be to enlarge to rear section by unscrewing it and fitting a...

    Fencing/Trellis Demolition

Not sure if anyone can help on this. I have a nice garden trellis with 3" x 4" PAR posts and rails, a lot of which is rotting badly. The height is 7' 6" above ground. Some uprights need to be taken out and the post holes will be a problem to dig, possibly concreted in, as most are 'within'...

    3 phase Motor maintenance

When you cut into waste wood and particularly putty, you could easily be hitting tacks or nails, which is likely to ruin any blade. By ruining the blade teeth set, you cannot expect any good results, but if the bandsaw is being used to cut up rough suff, then the poor blade can only do what it...

Jet JWBS-16X Bandsaw - Advice please

Hi Mike, no you haven't missed anything and the Alex Snodgrass method is the best I have seen. If the blade gullet can be positioned in the centre of the top wheel, then the bottom guides will not have to be moved forward or back. Some bandsaws have narrower wheels and with larger blades, the...

Jet JWBS-16X Bandsaw - Advice please

What you have to bear in mind Mike, is that the larger blades dont habve room for the gullett to be at the centre of the top wheel. Alex Snodgrass is working with 1/4" or less in his excellent video and even to a 3/8" should not need any change in the lower bearing position front to back. Malcolm

Jet JWBS-16X Bandsaw - Advice please

Hi Dave, Not for the smaller blades, but with 1/2" plus the teeth will be more forward on the top wheel and may need some adjustment. As I mainly use smaller blades, dont need to move it much but it's easy if I do. The two hex bolts are different sizes (silly) but still not a problem with the...
