    Have you checked out any Architectural Salvage Yards in your area ? Old - Solid - Windowless - Fire - Doors are pretty solid & could easily be cut to size.... They would fit on a car-roof-rack or into a friends van ?

    Instead of making a "Temporary" bench; why not use the timber which you already have and commit to making a much better & more versatile "Permanent" workbench ? I suggest that you explore "Moravian Workbench" on utube.
