just a thought have you got the blade right way round that could be why the timber is bouncing about and then you try and hold it the wood down harder and then the blade brakes

l did make a small box with no lid it was one of the 1st things l made when l got my lathe

Adem it is 4-1/2 wide and 2-1/2 thick and about 4` long l did wipe it down with a damp cloth to get the dust off but it is that color

try scrap board underneath only a suggestion

how about another old board underneath and press it down with double sided tape just a thought Cowboy

good on you for getting the wife to buy you the saw, personally l would have a look at Steve Goods site will a lot of information on getting started to making plans also he as a lot of free patterns which you can download and cut out so good luck take your time don't rush and look forward to...
